Setting up music area for my son and I and have assembled the following gear. His birthday is coming up and I want to make sure I have a good setup...

Guitar - 2014 American Deluxe Stratocaster (Lace Sensor Golds) + Gibson Les Paul Tribute +Taylor GS mini + Squire Stratocaster Mini

Amp - Fender Custom Pro 68 (Also have a Boss Katana 50, Positive Grid Spark and Blackstar Mini)

Attenuator - Weber Mass 200 + Stereo cables

Pedals -
Boss Ds1
Boss Rc1
Fulltone OCD Pedal
Ibanez TS9 Tube Screamer
JHS AT+ Angry Charlie

Pedaltrain Classic Jr. Pedalboard

Truetone CS7 Power Supply

Ernie Ball Flat Ribbon Patch Cables

Alto Uber PA

Shure SM48 Mic + Mic Stand

Straps, capos, picks, instrument cords, guitar stands, wall hangers, guitar multi-tool.

I am a beginner and he is turning 11, but he has been playing for 5 years so time for a major gear upgrade. Went on a shopping spree and got the Pro 68, Stratocaster, Les Paul and pedals, etc. so now just want to make sure the bases are covered...

Mainly classic and 2000s rock from ACDC to Zeppelin with Tom Petty, Beatles, Eagles, Green Day and GNR being high on the list...

You win parent of the year award
if there’s one thing that can be added (next year),
it is a simple recording set up: computer/lap top, mic and interface, software…..or even a hand held multi track recorder.

when I was a kid I took 2 cassette players and would record me jamming with me. We’ve come a long way.

He's better set up than me, and I earn about 70% of my family's income from playing guitar!

You're a great Dad, I hope he appreciates you and what you've done for him.

Thanks for all the responses. I forgot to add Sam Ash gave me C01U pro mic for free (I got the Tribute as a demo for a steal and it qualified for some free items and a gift card!). A family member is getting him a Cry Baby Wah Pedal. Seems like delay pedal may be a good one too.

We have an old Mac Air we use to control the Katana and will also have an iPad 6 freed up if that helps in any way (besides controlling the Spark which I personally like a lot as tool for a 100% beginner like me - as of 3 weeks ago), but will likely convert that to a recording setup. What interface or software is recommended?

Yes you missed something: you should adopt me as I'm a troubled child and in need of a father figure.
