Hello. Been a long time since I have posted on here but I have been lurking and it has been a long time since I got a new guitar. Decided it was time I got an American Strat in my arsenal so I started shopping around and looking at Fender’s current offerings. After watching what seemed like thousands of review videos and looking at specs I decided the new American Performer series fit my needs best for my playing style and spec preferences. Loved the combo of vintage style and appointments with the new modern wiring and ability to mix the neck in with the bridge pickup (which is a tone I have loved for years ever since I learned to play years ago on a Tele). Then when looking for an American Performer I ran across these limited edition sandblasted Strats and fell in love with the finish so I pulled the trigger. Had it delivered last week and it is just absolutely gorgeous. Love the feel of the exposed grain and it definitely has a unique look. The grain is just beautiful. It may look like it would be rough but it’s not. It is still quite smooth to rub your hands on or rest my forearm on it when I play. I have to admit love rubbing my hands over it has a very cool feel to the ash wood. I know a finish like this is not for everyone but I fell in love with it in the photos and now that it is in my hands it looks and feels even better than imagined. The necks on these guitars are absolutely gorgeous as well. Love the smooth feel of the satin finish on the neck of these guitars. Just smooth as butter and continues to invite me to pick it up and play. Very beautiful finishing work done by the Fender folks. The Yosemite pickups are incredible as well. Classic Strat tone and quack but I can get a wonderful drive tone out of them that is music to my ears and a tad hotter than my more vintage Strat pickups I have used in the past. Also they are on the brighter side which I prefer so they are absolutely perfect for me. I just have to roll the tone and volume down a couple notches and it rolls right into the sweet spot. I like them being brighter because it gives me more room to play with my tone and that’s ideal for the different styles I play (blues and rock). So nothing but great things so far to say about the build quality of this guitar in all aspects. Every time I see her she just calls to me to pick her up and play. Can’t be more satisfied with it and can’t wait to log hours on hours of playing time with her. Here are a few requisite phots after she came out of the box. Happy playing everyone!
