    Two things for the OP.

    1. Play the amp as it is until the tubes give out
    2. when the tubes give out, get the amp serviced by a tech who actually knows how to correctly bias an amp and get a good set of quality brand tubes. Forget all the hype and BS, stick to svetlana, JJ or EHX for your 12's and for the power amp you want a properly matched set - and fwiw, I have seen TAD "matched" sets be nowhere near the goalposts, so I would stay away from them and literally stick to EHX gold pin 12's or svetlana / JJ's and for the power tubes, EHX or groovetubes.

Quality on all of them are generally good, and you want to buy from a reputable agent or get your tech to supply and fit.

in the meantime, play it as it is and stop worryong about how it might sound, when you aren't even familiar with this particular amps nuances.

The valves that are in there might be the best ones that you ever had. but you won't know that unless you play the amp as is and get used to it.

If you, or others don´t hear the difference - or don´t care/bother/mind - that`s subjective:).
The fact that (several) different tube makes will affect the sound of an amp, is objective.

New working valves sound better than the dead ones that they replaced. Beyond that...

There's definitely something to this - especially if we are assuming that all the tubes being made today are pure crap compared to those made in the “olden days”.

The fact that my relatively new 2019 Fender '57 Custom Deluxe amp sounds so (subjectively) fantastic, yet still has roughly the same vintage 5E3 circuit design, well, that does appear to suggest one of two things:

    a) The modern tubes that came installed in it work well enough and aren't nearly as crappy as others here are obviously implying...

    or

    b) The "Specially Designed For Fender" alnico Eminence speaker is so damn good that it somehow makes up for the supposedly crappy modern tubes that are in it.

All I can say is that this amp does sound fantastic (in my opinion) and I've even tried other speakers in it that didn't sound nearly as good - so at the very least I'm convinced that the stock speaker is amazing.

BUT! Regarding the question of whether any speaker is in fact "so amazing" that it can actually make up for the alleged super-crappy modern tubes being made today? Well, all I can say is that any hypothesizing on this subject is certainly debatable...

Never cared to spend my time and money rolling tubes (except I have experimented with what I already have lying around and any new ones I buy). But for any true comparison, I think you have to lay down a track on a looper and then play that loop into the amp(s), so the notes/dynamics are identical when comparing anything. I always hate when I watch a video of a comparison and they play something differently than they did on another unit of whatever they are comparing.

Finally. Someone not afraid to recommend a bit of tube rolling. Certainly doesn't hurt.

I think you'll find tube rolling mentioned several places. I know you'll find it mentioned on page two.

Fraid you're right. Head-fi or some other audiophile forum might be more openminded. I think I've learned all I can from this thread.

Just cause I mean there is some topics not worth using time on trying to disguss or share experiences, doesn’t mean that I don’t find other sides of the forum both interesting an fruitful.

Which begs the question: can you hear a difference between Libby's corn vs Jolly Green Giant corn?

    I still like the field.

Being outdoors, whistling a happy song while digging, that thud sound when you roll the body into the hole, the sprinkling of the lime.

It's so peaceful and heart felt.
