The post is here - And I was hoping to be out of the woods by now!!!
Many thanks....now I'm off to work to take care of patients.
Some of whom might even be referred to as "Goobs"....
Very, very few people are wearing masks anymore in our region of Illinois and we just spent a week in norther Wisconsin without seeing a single person masked in restaurants or stores. Both areas are reporting around 50% vaccinated and of course there's an additional pool of people with antibodies from previous infections.
Oklahoma is open no restrictions and sir, I believe it IS a political issue .
What does 'sit it' mean?
No reason to be confused. Who didn't know this was coming some time ago ? Based on the behavior of Millions from all sides of the spectrum - who couldn't have known ? Never stopped wearing a mask to begin with. The entire Human race has done it to themselves. There was a time when we could have made this nothing more than a blip ...
Your admonishment about making this political is a little misguided, though I certainly understand why you said that. It's about whether or not you understand and/or believe the science. It just so happens that one part of the political spectrum has a large number of people who do not understand and/or believe the science.
How is this "Strat Talk?"
Exactly - the comments with the "They said" / "They told us" / Etc... who needed to be told ? To be safe or not be, or to "Relax now" ? Jeez
I live on the east side of the line. I also work in a first responders position so I am truly sincere when I tell you to be safe at work. I would still be sincere even if I didn't work where I do even though you decided to call me a goob when I was trying to be nonconfrontational with you.
Be safe and have a nice day.
The new cases (predominantly Delta variant) are with people not vaccinated. There were bound to be breakthrough cases of Covid amongst the vaccinated also, no vaccine is 100%. Pays your money and take your chances, get vaccinated. Pfizer has proven to be the best. No mask requirement in Texas............yet.
Las Vegas was doing good until we hit the wall on vax percentages and then opened the casinos to be crowded with (very welcome) visitors. The infection rate soared and we're one of the nation's hotspots. If you've seen photos, we've had several weekends with 330,000+ visitors in town, nobody masked, and the casinos packed like sardines. It all seems very predictable.
I'll never wear a mask because I have my freedumb and no one's going to tell me what to do!
Is that the thinking? I honestly don't get why it's even an issue for some people. Let's spread a deadly pandemic because I want to show everyone I'm too smart to be fooled by science? Do you not clean your house of germs, either? Do you want your surgeon operating on you without wearing a mask or washing his/her hands? It makes no sense to me, but I guess that's where social media has brought us. Weird.
Two things keep happening; whiners thinking their rights are being violated refusing to wear a mask and spreading it to people who did their part and helped make progress and actually earned the right to walk around without a mask. And second, when we did loosen up, maybe we got too loose too fast (?). Now we may end up having to start over.
It isn't. This particular forum on strat-talk is called "Sidewinders Bar and Grille". It's like sitting in a bar shooting the breeze.
As long as it's not religion or politics, most everything else not guitar/gear or music related is discussed in this forum.
You read wrong info, then. Vaccination definitely reduces both the spread of the virus and the severity of the illness if you happen to catch it. The virus still colonizes in the nasal area even when vaccinated, but it's much less likely to spread.
The "logic" a lot of people seem to be using regarding vaccines is similar to saying that wearing a seat belt is not 100% certain to save your life in case of an accident, so therefore wearing a seat belt is useless. It's not really great thinking, lol.
One sad aspect of this pandemic that I didn't see coming is how much respect I have lost for some friends, family, and colleagues. Those that refuse to get vaccinated and a few of which even have fake vax cards. I think less of them now and believe I always will see them differently. They're selfish, arrogant, and ignorant, possibly even knowingly ignorant. I wish it wasn't that way but I can't help it.
I am referring to healthy people here, not those that are told not to get vaxed.
This Lollapalooza event in IL will be interesting, I think. Thousands of people in close proximity to one another for days who have been vaccinated, but so far mostly don't appear to be wearing masks. I'd call that more being a guinea pig than going to a concert, lol. But it'll be interesting to see how it turns out, as far as spread.
