I have put a limit on my GAS impulses and pledged to NOT buy another guitar unless I sell one first so that the "herd" doesn't grow. I'm doing well, but I have become quite interested in some of the growing PRS offerings. I already have 2 of their S2's (A Starla and a Custom 22), but I have been hearing so much about the quality and value of the "import series" (SE's) that I went to my buddy's shop today and did a little browsing. A fun day, which ended with me trading one guitar, an amp, and a remote guitar to amp system and walking away with one Mark Tremonti (single cut) "artist series" PRS SE Guitar. The darn thing is a real knock out in a custom black and gray color combo, dual humbuckers (each with individual volume and tone controls), the PRS Tremolo system, and the "bird" fret markers. It's quality is really impressive and the playability and tonal ranges are amazing. It resembles a Les Paul in a lot of ways, but definitely has its own unique sound and feel. I'm a long way from replacing all my Fenders, but it really is fun to be able to have a variety of "name brands" around to give the ability to "mix it up" when you feel like it. And I did not increase the number of guitars that I own! Here's some photos:

Nice, it looks like the love child of a Les Paul and PRS! That's a pretty flame on the top. Do the SE's have a veneer maple top or is it a solid maple cap?

PRS's description of the top material says "beveled maple with flame maple veneer". I guess that means a solid maple top with a maple veneer? Kind of confusing words. An interesting note is that it appears that the top has a binding around it, but it is actually "bare wood" exposed (probably the edge of the maple top) and finished such that is it forms a perfect "binding look". The quality really is amazing!!

    Congrats!!!

I just recently purchased a new PRS SE Custom 24 Limited and love it. I changed a lot of things out already like pickups, bridge replaced with John Mann PRS Core, PRS Core nut, PRs Core knobs and PRS locking tuners. Nothing wrong with the originals but just felt it needed a little push for my taste lol.

Anyways fantastic guitars, very well built and nothing negative I can say. I always felt weird prior to buying it because I own a PRS Archon 100 head and matching PRS 4x12 cabinet but no PRS guitars previously lol.

Again congrats and rock on :thumb:

Congrats! I recently acquired the exact same guitar from a Craigslister. I probably should have given the SE pickups a chance but I had already purchased a set of Seth Lovers and was actually looking for a worthy recipient. Couldn't be happier and I'm sure you will be too!

I'm quite surprised and impressed with how this import SE stands up to my US made S2's. Aside from the fact that it is marketed in the "lower cost" PRS line, I can not see, feel, or hear any significant differences at all. It is really a "knock out" guitar and one heck of a value!!

No, it does not come in CAR (assuming that means "candy apple red"?), nor does it come with an actual car! Sorry, one color only. But cheer up, there is a "customer return" advertised as "mint" on Reverb by a dealer in New York for $549! If it is really mint and not a defective item, that's a heck of a buy....includes shipping! But far be it for me to encourage the GAS afflicted!!

EDIT: How can I hide that in the lumber I bought to make the garage?

Yeah, lay down the 2 X 4's first, but leave an open space in the middle of them large enough for the "contraband". Then load the 4 X 8 sheets of plywood on top of the 2 X 4's, concealing the guitar in an entirely enclosed space. Then don't unload until dark! There's always a way! Not that I'm trying to encourage you or anything!

A friend of mine recently bought one of these. I didn't really get PRS before, but the quality and playability is unbelievable for the price - I genuinely couldn't fault it. I kind of want one now. :D

    HNGD!
