My wife and I were sitting on a sandbar while camping on the Pearl river chatting about the afterlife and reincarnation many years ago when a bikini clad girl, I swear she was a 10+, came cruising along on a jet ski. I looked at my wife and said if reincarnation is a fact I wanted to come back as a jet ski seat; she said "with your luck a sweaty 400# dude wearing a speedo would be riding that jet ski".

Yeah, King stayed there one night before they closed for the season and had some experiences that inspired the book.
BTW, I finished the book recently - you almost have to treat it as a different work - the movie is great, but very different, which is why it is King's least favorite adaption.

Just goes to show how wild and carried away some producers and directors can get with finding ideal filming locations.

Estes Park is a beautiful but very touristy town as you probably learned but also the east entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park and Trail Ridge Road over the top of the Continental Divide. Breathtaking mountain views.

They did make one error in the summary though. Copper Mountain Resort is not in Breckenridge. It farther west along I-70 just east of Vail Pass and a mini-city all of it's own.

I got a chance to visit it last year during a trip to Colorado. It's quite beautiful.

There's a lot we don't know. My wife and I looked at a house once where we got the strangest vibe when we were walking around the house. We both felt a really negative energy there. This was not someplace we wanted to hang around and we left quickly. It's never happened before or since in any other house.

It be great if there was a truth in advertising law where sellers tell you before you buy if it's haunted. This person has the right idea:

Right hotel, wrong state. It's the Timberline Lodge in Oregon. Right on Mt. Hood.

Ah, thanks for the correction. At least I was heading in the right direction but stopped two states too soon. It is one isolated place although it looks as though it can be reached even in winter. Is that true?

In the house my family moved into when I was 11 a previous owner killed 3 of her 4 kids while her husband was at work. The two boys in the bedroom, which was mine and my brother's room, and a baby girl in the tub. The other young girl she didn't kill.

When we moved in the neighborhood kids told us about it. It was true. My parents also learned of it and I've seen news print articles. It happened about 12 yrs before we moved in. Probably postpartum depression, she was sent away for pyschiatric lockup.

No ghosts, just a sad story.
