Not in theory, but if you ever remove it, be careful when you screw the mounting screws back in. You don't want to damage the wood - cross threading - putting 'em back. Potential for the string tension to pull it off the body, if they're damaged.Im picking up a tele tomorrow that is top load only. Are there any big advantages to modding it string through?
It’s a little harder mod than it seems. The top loader bridge isn’t as good IMO, but I have an Esquire, that I use a lot with the top loaded bridge and it plays and sounds great.Im picking up a tele tomorrow that is top load only. Are there any big advantages to modding it string through?
Probably not enough to have a dramatic effect.Maybe I'll try top loading next string change
I'm very much, if there's already holes there then I'd be obliged to use them

Will there be more sustain and less twang or vice versa?
Remember though that the physics that may or may not matter are about break angle..
I hate changing strings on string-through guitars.
Flopping the guitar over and back on the bench like a tune-a-fish.
So I prefer top loaders.
Remember that somehow those Gibson LPs/SGs and other guitar brands survived decades in the market as top loaders.

A funny thing with the massive parts market these days is that Tele toploader bridges have ball end holes in better and worse locations. It’s a little harder mod than it seems.
