I’ve recently starting watching the 80’s hit show, Crime Story, and was wondering if there are any other shows out there that is like that. If you’ve watched the show, please don’t say any spoilers. Also, one that doesn’t have a lot of vulgar language, so a family could watch if desired.

On a side note, I do not have starz/hbo/shotime/Netflix.

Mob shows that a family could watch?

    Nope.

Closest you will get to anything family friendly that's suspenseful is on the Hallmark channel. They have a bunch of stuff that's tame and well done, something the family could watch together.

Best mob show was the Sopranos, tv wise that is . If you haven’t watched it I strongly recommend it , from episode one till the end.

If you have any Sony devices, dvd, X Box, etc you should be able to get Crackle TV. If you do, try Covert Affairs. TUBI has some good stuff as well

Just saw the language caveat. Some language and violence in CA

The Sopranos was filmed ( almost ) literally in my backyard.
    Wives tennis, 200 yards away
    Final Scene, 600 yards away.
    Sushi restaurant, 800 yards away.
Almost every scene in every episode within 5 to 7 miles of my house.
    Tony & Carmella's house, 4 miles
    Bada Bing, 5 miles.

and yes, it's really like that around here.
    I was a BIG fan.

What was the real name of Bada Bing?
I’ve seen every episode five times.

Her child, dad and sister all play important roles in the show.

Pennyworth is pretty good, although not family friendly.
It's the story of Alfred Pennyworth (Thomas and Bruce Wayne's butler) before he was employed by the Waynes.
    Strong language, and occasional nudity.

I lived in Jersey during the 70s & 80s - played all over including a bunch of places around your area: The Cuss From Hoe, Mother's, Butterfield's, the Final Exam>Jordan's>Obsessions, the Hole In The Wall, the Soap Factory, the Towpath. Maxwell's in Hoboken. Downstate too - the Arrow Lounge, Royal Manor North, the Stone Pony & the Fast Lane, Baby-O & the Chatterbox, Club Spanky, the Tradewinds, the Buccaneer, the Osprey Lounge. We outdrew the B-52s at the Fountain Casino in '81.

Used to get my car inspected in Lodi. Tommy Doyle was my guitar repair guy, off Rte 17 up in Ridgewood. And in '82 I bought my Moderne at the Sam Ash on Rte 4 where Rte 17 goes over it.

EDIT: Sorry to go off the rails a little, had a momentary fit of nostalgia...

The Sopranos kinda falls short of the no vulgar language thing :). Agreed that it was a great show. One of the final scenes that takes place at a gas station was filmed a quarter mile from where I worked at the time. It was all very hush hush when it was being filmed.

I think you'll be hard pressed to find a mob/spy show that's family friendly. For crime shows, pick one of the million NCIS or Law and Order spin off series. Since they are on network TV, the language will be at least PG.
