I like Jags, never really got into the Jazzmasters.
I have a Blacktop Jag and a G&L Doheny (if that counts):
I have a "Jag-Paul" I picked up last year. The paint (surf pearl) is literally stunning in sunlight. I really like the pau ferro fretboard, too. A much deeper, moodier sound than my Strats or Tele, but there is a place for it.
It's heavier than either Strat or Tele, the offset design wants to tip over if not on a stand, and having only one volume and tone control makes switching pickups a chore over most Gibsons. Still, it fills the Gibson sound void well without having to switch brands...the neck is comfortable as well as familiar.
+1 for Surf Pearl, I have a Strat in that colour - your so right about sunlight!
I will never again buy a guitar without a satin neck finish. Modern fender’s have spoiled me on that aspect. Hate laquered necks. But to the point it’s a nice looking jag
I have been playing this one a lot. 30" scale with half-rounds and Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders. I secretly a wanna be bassist!
I try to avoid any lacquer anything by Fender.
But, if I wanted the Jagmarr with the Bareknuckle pickups and StayTrem bridge......
