Any way to date this pedal without taking it apart? I was told it was one of the first years the A had the red light?

    Small box rat:

Note proco logo next to RAT.

Now look at the OP's. No proco logo next to RAT.

    It's a RAT 2.

    Compare this with OP's photo:

Back to the parking lot. I hear they're handing out Band-Aids to newcomers.

It's funny Josh in that video says the re-issues are going for big(ish) money now.
I've had one for ages and had no idea.

I probably wouldn't bother selling it but the funny thing is it's literally the only pedal that I no longer have the box for.

Of all the useless boxes I have, I vaguely remember ditching this one when I found it looking all ratty (yeah) in the bottom of moving box.

But the OP's photo doesn't have the LED where the red triangle is, need a bandaid for that wound, maybe use some Neosporin so it doesn't rip the scab off ? This Reverb claims to be a Rat 2 from 1988. So it's not a post 1988 either ? But it could be a 1988, perhaps a 1989 or later. I think your just a little salty & bitter because surfboard wax actually works without having to re-pot a pickup ? Imagine that, someone finding a better solution, there are more than 1 way of accomplishing any objective, but I could be wrong.

So I let curiosity win. Opened it up. Per the info y’all sent here I think it’s an 89 with the LM308. This is my first rat but from initial research, these are good things? It sounds bloody awesome. I do know that. Les Paul. Rat. Super reverb. Wowzer.

would a fulltone octafuzz work just the same? What order in the chain would you run it? Fuzz first?

Yeah, but it won't sound the same though obviously. I'd probably go with fuzz first although big muffs I normally place after. All personal preference and experimentation at the end of the day.

    This might interest you though.
