Anyone else curious or fed up with the Mayer/80's Clapton tone posts?

There's nothing "Journeyman" about this in my opinion.

Now EC's August release.......yup. Slide this on side two, lol......

Well same era: August was 86 and Journeyman was 89.

I'm just getting a "Pretending " vibe from the Mayer tune. Fuller keyboards, fuller drums.

I find J~Man more bluesy than August. August having more a pop feel and sound, where this Mayer tune falls under. The tone, deff that compressed Lace Sensor vibe, which I love so I'm not touching that topic.

No, I’m not curious or fed up. I don’t chase anyone else’s tone.

Ya know I would have agreed with you my whole life on that but that Western Stars album that came out last year was really good!

I like a few of his songs, I think he’s so overrated not to mention phony.

I had not heard this….but I like it!

Certainly better than a lot of music that I’ve heard lately.

Liked his first tune, No Such Thing. Reminded me a bit of Michael Franks. After that; nothing really. Fun tune to cover.

Glad to see some venting out!

Agreements and disagreements, glad you all have your views!

JM can be polarizing in some guitar player circles. His success just adds salt to the wound! I get it, I took me a while to shed my "punk" ethos and just embrace whatever "is" and stop my adherence to my "how I think or wish it should be". Blame mindfulness and meditation to my being able to enjoy different stuff.

Kind of glad this new release really made me listen back and enjoy some Clapton that I missed the first time around!
