I'm such a sucker for all that AOR stuff back then. Magic sounds in my opinion and talk about versatility... They could do these slow piano ballads then rock your nuts off with songs like this -

Toto- huge fan and I love Steve Lukather's playing. Starship, no, to poppy for me.

Without the guitar riff in that song, Jane would not have been nearly as cool.

My first rock concert was REO Speedwagon opened by Kansas Opened by Starship (with Grace Slick)
Then a couple years ago I took my wife to see Boston and they were opened by Starship (so I got to see them twice) but they had Kathy Ridchardson singing with them that time. She had the chops but just wasn't the same.

Jefferson Starship was cool... didn't like everything but, they had their moments... biut, what really got me into keyboards in a rock context was Emerson Lake & Palmer... what a great band they were...

Steve Lukather is a beast! IMO though, Jefferson Starship and Toto or Starship and Toto were always equally poppy.

I love all those bands, but sometimes I want something more on the melodic rock side or power ballad side than southern rock, country rock, blues rock...

Not a massive fan of keyboard rock but Deep Purple wouldn't have been the same without Jon Lord's Hammond.

I think he means unmusical pompous rubbish like this, no guitars kills on show whatsoever, just keyboards

So you almost always prefer guitar backing guitar?
