I'm seriously considering one after much hemming and hawing over the years.

I have narrowed it down to three or four, which I'll not name here just yet.

Please add your likes and dislikes for what you may use or have tried.

    ThankYou03.gif

I use SurfShark. They sponsor a YT channel I like called China Uncensored.

One of the four I'm looking at. How is the speed? I'm reading it varies a lot.

@StratoMutt I use Mozilla and have not had any issues, it $4.99/month if you use the 12 month package. I usually just use it when I check my bank account or if I'm buying something oline.

It may be something you would want to consider:

Would you mind using this speed test site for Mozilla? https://www.speedcheck.org/ and report your findings?

It is the only reliable test site I have found that works with my anti-ad countermeasures.

The Opera browser has its own free VPN, but it is quite slow. I'm also unsure of its real world security.

I've used PureVPN for several years. Good speeds and ping to plenty of countries. No logs. Works on all platforms and devices. Option of dedicated IP address. No complaints.

What I see on speedcheck.org. It is not a scam site I'm trying to get you to click on.

Speedcheck is fine. I've used it many times.

If it matters, I'm in Texas and I connected through a US server. I normally use either the US or UK. My normal speed test without the VPN is around 800Mbps down. 60Mbps up, and latency around 30ms. I had used Nord for a little over a year and PureVPN has on average been about the same speed and latency, but at a lower price.

Did a bunch of reading earlier. https://www.pcmag.com/picks/the-best-vpn-services Also https://www.zdnet.com/article/best-vpn/

I sort of opted for Mozilla, but went with Mullvad, the VPN network Mozilla uses. 5€ a month for 1 or 100 months, none of that that extended contract discount then pay full price nonsense.

Thank you to those who responded. :)

My son installed ExpressVPN on my main Win10 Desktop. It works with little noticeable impact on performance.

I have noticed that some sites and their features block my web surfing when it is running.

    www.protonvpn.com

"We created ProtonVPN to protect the journalists and activists who use ProtonMail. ProtonVPN breaks down the barriers of Internet censorship, allowing you to access any website or content."

Pretty sure they also created their email app, ProtonMail, for the same sorts of reasons.

I use Proton VPN, along with Proton Mail, which was invented by folks at CERN in Switzerland. It's one of the most secure email and VPN clients you can use.

Its much better than most, if not all of the "commercial" VPN's that are advertised on every channel on YouTube.

IIRC, it's what all of the politicians were using when everybody flipped their lid that politicians were using some super secure email app that couldn't be hacked or broken into whatsoever. I've been using it for years...long before any of those people ever heard of it.
