I had discovered him by accident, as I am not a fan of the genres he works in. But what a fine new player: for those of you that have not heard him, https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=john+5+teaching+guitar I was impressed by his versatility and the wide range of guitar genres he references in his playing. No matter what style you play or like, you have to admit this guy can play.
The man is a classic case of "dont judge the book by its cover". I know, I did, and was pleasantly surprised when I realized how good he really is.
He even has his own Fender Sig guitar: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-...118043242-sku^[email protected]^PLA
It was only when I found him via youtube videos that I realized he was a monster player. Much more to my taste than I would have expected.
I saw him on something playing old guitars, I thought "oh no another weirdo" and was going to move on, then sat down and watched the whole thing. He can play a bit.
He seems to play a variety of Teles Squier J5 John 5 Signature Telecaster 2 Electric Guitar, Frost Gold another sig model
The guy probably has the biggest and most complete Tele collection in the World. The value is as staggering as the examples he has.
I totally agree. I didn't even know his name until today, but he made an impression. I can find more stuff to listen to now.
Yeah, the makeup... Gimmicky, sort of like Buckethead (wonder if he has an endorsement with KFC?) or KISS (apologies to anyone who likes any of the aforementioned people). The fact that J5 plays with Marilyn Manson is another thing that doesn't raise him up very much in my eyes. But yes, killed player indeed!!
He hasn't been with MM in a while. He plays with Rob Zombie now. Of course, what that says depends on your opinion of Rob Zombie.............
