Curious how many of you have that 1 guitar and amp and that’s all you need. Maybe it’s a strat and you have many strats. Or fender amps and you have many fender amps. No judgement here, but I have never been able to nail down that single guitar/amp type combination and be satisfied. I mean, strat in to a Princeton might be my fav, but there are days when I just wanna wail on my les Paul and Marshall. The the LP in to my fender. Or strat in to the Vox. SG special in to them all. All combinations of amp and guitars inspire me to play very differently. It just does not feel or sound right to me to play Guns with a strat and fender. Or jimi on a LP. I think the gear definitely inspires me. I guess I’m not the marrying type with gear. I have some player friends that found their tone and stay with 1 type of guitar and amp 99% of the time. But I like being single I guess. I can #%&@ any guitar or amp I want. Although it is costly to be constantly dating.

    Depends on each person’s needs.

My needs involve writing and recording music which requires both single coil and humbucker guitars, clean and high gain amps as well as acoustic and bass guitars.

I suppose if I were forced to condense my gear I’d probably choose the following:

    1) 2007 Guild D-40.

    2) 2015 Fender Jazz Bass.

    3) 2003 Fender AV ‘52 Telecaster AND 2021 Fender Custom Shop Strat partscaster (‘65 Stratocaster clone)... to go with my 2019 Fender ‘57 Custom Deluxe amp.

    4) 2020 Gibson SG Standard - plugged into my Mesa Boogie TA-15 and TA-30 TransAtlantic amps.

I used to be that guy. I had a highly
Modded Smith Strat and a Fender Dual Showman Reverb, and that was all I had for about 20 years. Then I became a gear slut after joining this forum in 2018.

Now I have 24 guitars and three amps. Luckily I am able to keep the lights on and the fridge stocked after all my gear purchases.m the only thing that has stopped me these days is the lack of availability of the guitars I would like to buy. Everyone is out of everything it seems. And, I’ve noticed a lot less NGD posts on this forum and a couple of others I frequent.

Depends. What's it like and am I gonna get caught?

When working, a side guy doesn't always get a lot of "space on the bus"...the side guy takes what they can service themselves and not get yelled at by either the tour or road managers...(lest one find themself rooming with the lead roadie).

Mostly. I have for most of my playing days been a "one guitar" type of guy.
I have a few to choose from, but I mostly stick to one for very long stretches.

Even in my gigging days, I had two amps and two electric guitars. I would change based on the setting/venue/band. Back then it was a Strat and a Tele into a Deluxe Reverb or a Prosonic. Now I haven't gigged in over 10 years, but have 5 guitars(2 acoustic) and 5 amps.

i only have one guitar and one amp.
the guitar is all I'll play for the rest of my life, a gift from my wife, the ultimate gift.

the HT20 is so versatile I can get nearly any flavor I'm looking for on any given day. Loud enough to jam/gig, cuts down to 2 watts for home use.
