I consider the corrupting and enabling to be one of the best things about this great place. I can always count on unconditional support when scratching that GAS-triggered itch!

I would consider myself monogamous. I do own a spare strat but it lives in the closet and exists purely in case my #1 is not available. I also own an acoustic if that counts.

Uhhh….I think that while the record shows I favor Strats, I’m an otherwise ignorant slut. I only go with others to reinforce my appreciation of the Stratocaster… hehe.

I’ve filter out a lot lately, just down to

    3 guitars
    1 bass
    1 amp

It’s just that I have 4 strats, 2 teles and 1 Jaguar, so that’s really only 3 guitars right? Multiples don’t count do they?

My Super Champ XD is pretty much the only amp I ever use. Very occasionally I'll play my Ibanez TSA5, but that always reminds me that the SCXD is better in every possible way.

I'm the exact opposite with guitars. I'm sure I could manage with just my MIM Strat and Eko acoustic, but it wouldn't be as much fun. I might have to concentrate exclusively on playing them...:D

I'm monogamous in married life, anything but as a guitarist. I hope I'll stop here but as of now I have 2 teles, 2 strats, 3 archtops (one is probably on the way out), a Casino, a flat-top, a classical guitar, 5 tube amps (tweed champ clone, Epiphone Zephyr, Brown Deluxe, newly acquired tweed Pro, Blackface Tremolux), two solid state amps I'll get rid of, and a "travel amp" that has become my son's main amp.

It's admittedly more than I can use, and I could – without reducing my "range" – let go of a Strat, a Tele, an archtop (which as said I mean to do), my two "experimental" SS amps and perhaps one of the two bigger tube amps. But "monogamous" is not an option when you play genres as diverse as Led Zeppelin and big band swing ;D

There was a pretty long period in my life when I was guitarless, so now I have a guitar addiction.

Absolutely not. And its getting worse!
My thought is "Have one good example of each one of the classics that speak to you (me)".
So thats what I've (just about) got.
I only have multiples of strats (2) and teles (2) Okay ones an esquire but you get the picture.
2 good amps. Thats my next gear hunt.
And a good P90 guitar. (that'll be fun to hunt down)

Too many choices here at my house. Over twenty guitars, one bass, five guitar amps and two bass amps. Will receive my next guitar in November when it becomes available.

LOL it's such a quirky, groovy little amp! I only bought it because it was supposedly built the same year I was ('75) and, well, just look at it. The tremolo and the delay don't work well and it doesn't sound very good, but it's mine and I love it that way.

Could I get by with one guitar and one amp? I've done it, but I don't have to now.

I used to be one elec HB guitar / one amp / one acoustic guy. I added a project single coil guitar... then a P90 guitar that was really just too much of a bargain to pass on... then an acoustic for rattin' around travel. Oh yeah, and then an amp. But I'm selling an amp. One of them needs to go. And as soon as my primary acoustic is back in shape, I think I'll sell the cheap one.

I like minimalist living. I'd sell the spare electrics, but ATM I really like playing all of them. We'll see.

"I should have brought my Strat."

This is what I said on Friday at the recording studio.

In my mind I want to be the one guitar guy, in my case a 2011 Gretsch G6128-DSV Duo Jet with Dynasonics. I had the pickups rewound during lockdown so the bridge has a Dynasonic with Telecaster character and the neck has a Dynasonic with Stratocaster character. These pickups blended with the chambered body produce a sound that I'm all in on. Theoretically it is the one.

During Friday's recording session I brought my Duo Jet and my Carvin Bel Air amp to track some lead guitar flourishes on my friend's songs. We used this Duo Jet and my Casino for rhythm tracks, one on each side. For the first song the part I came up with is in the lower register of the high strings. The engineer said the frequencies were blending too much with the rhythm guitars and that this part would cut through better on a solid body guitar. I agreed. The lesson I learned is that all of these guitars, amps and other shenanigans we bring are all tools to achieve sounds. We shouldn't get too attached to these things. We should use them as a means to achieve an end. I should have brought my Strat.

The new Iommi SG special. I promise you that you’ll love the P90s in it.
