As a guitar player, do you enjoy live music more or maybe sometimes less? I have a friend who doesn't play an instrument and it seems like he's up for any live music, any time, any place, any band, and he almost always thinks they were "off the charts". I've noticed that I've become a lot more discerning, or critical, when it comes to the live shows that I'll attend. If the band, and the guitarist, is good, I think being a guitar player can really enhance the experience. When I'm watching another player who's really on their game, and I understand how difficult it is to do what they're doing, it pumps me up. On the other hand, if the guitarist isn't that great, sometimes I find myself being overly critical and feeling unimpressed and it takes something off of the experience. I guess ignorance can be bliss sometimes, like my friend, but I'll take being a player and having a more discerning ear when it comes to guitar prowess. When you're watching a really good player and you are a player yourself, I think it enhances the experience. What do you guys think?
