    Greetings,

Picking and grinning again in Portland.

Was sidelined for years by injuries -- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from work, rotator cuff impingement from play. Then, life got in the way. Old story.

Discovered this forum in the process of rekindling my love for strumming and the need for noodling. Along with a few other online resources, strat-talk.com has proved to be a helpful resource for my musical reintegration. Figured I'd join up and say hi.

I'll confess to a lifelong affliction, Gear Acquisition Syndrome, from this and various other pursuits. Recently, I picked up a Fretlight FG-621 "S-type" to help gain back my chops. A cool tool. Managed to catch a case of stompbox fever. Gah! Currently eyeballing a new amp, another Strat to keep my c.1991 American Vintage Reissue '57 company ...

In the meantime, I'm building up calluses on my fingers. (Ouch.) In my book, skill has always trumped hardware, and talent reigns supreme. But at least I have gear!

    Cheers,
    Vcaster

    Welcome to Strat Talk Vcaster.
Try soaking those fingers in rubbing alcohol, it helps to toughen them up

Better off to buy drinking alcohol (pearly mecidinal you warships) to dull the pain and toughen the fingers up by playing the guitar...

Welcome to the nut house Vcaster.

"Portland". Is that Portland, Oregon or Portland, Maine? Anyway, welcome and enjoy.

I was wondering, too. I was born in Portland, Oregon.

Thanks, all, for the warm welcome. Strat players are the best! (Although Tele and Les Paul types are pretty good cats too.)
