being able to tell polarity on pickups.

    Is this right?:

    If you put two pickups, magnet to magnet against each other (front facing the front of the other pickup)

    if they are opposite polarity, they will pull together, correct? and if they push away, they are the same polarity, right? Opposites attract, want to make sure that applies here.


    Just want to make sure, before I wire up a pickup incorrectly.

    So, if I might slightly hijack this... if you wanted two single coils to be doing some humbucking (thinking the OP wants to do that), you'd want them installed in which orientation?

    Yep, want to make sure they’re noise canceling and wired without phase issues. So I’d want them opposite polarity from each other
