I only use the prism for pure clean boost. I use the blue note for low gain at home or studio when I can’t crank my amp. I had the golden boy but with the drive above 2 o’clock it was very hissy and noisy. I did love the boost side so I returned it and bought the prism. For bluesbreaker pedal, which the drive side of the Golden boy is, I prefer the morning glory.

I just built an EHX LPB-1 and it sounds great! I ended up using a different transistor than they spec but it still sounds awesome.

That's not really a clean boost, though. Is it? It's based on a Bluesbreaker x2 according to Brian Wampler. With the prince being just half of the king.

Edit: nevermind. Didn't realize it had a clean mode on the dip switches.

If your looking for a "more Injector" that does not color tone and simply adds on top of your tone without changing much the MXR Sugar Drive Delivers.

They are small too and you can switch it to true bypass or buffer mode.

I have played countless "transparent ODs" and nothing has done it as good as this right here. And its super affordable too and a top quality piece of kit.

Goosing any drive all it does is add more without changing your base tone and remaining transparent. Love it!!!!

I have a good selection of drive pedals and they all work excellently well with my MXR Sugar Drive. Ive yet to find a drive better for this purpose.

It does not alter, change or mess up your base tone when stacking. It just adds more and shapes tone beutifully!!!

For a purely clean boost with zero coloration I use a Creation Audio Labs Mk 4.23 - it's basically their Redeemer buffer circuit + a 24db pure clean boost.
It is basically the sound of your guitar + volume - I use it first as a buffer to power my sound through all the pedals downstream, but also to compensate for different output guitars that I may use - most of my HB guitars I set the boost at either off or nearly off - single coils at around 10 o'clock.

+4 for the Bad Bob. Very much like a Klon, it takes what your guitar is giving and opens it up. Just with less knobs. And pretense. It’s really good. Can’t speak highly enough about it. I used to have a Katana clean boost, but it collects dust now I’ve got a Bad Bob.

I use my Bad Bob with everything. Tele, Les Paul, -335s and Strats. Like I said, it sidelined my Keeley boost which is a fantastic pedal. The Bad Bob is just way better.

Nashville ace Bill Hullett told me about the Bad Bob years ago. I have one that Robbie Wallace built. Now Analog Mike makes them. It's the one pedal I'll never sell.

Guitar Center showed me they had the MXR Sugar Drive on sale in an advertisement years ago.....

I went to check out to see what up with Klones.....

Never tried any till then but did try out a J Archer, Wampler and MXR Klone.......

I got what the hype was about after I tried them all out but out of all them walked out with the MXR Sugar Drive because it had the most balanced EQ and neutral mids overall.

For what your after no joke, scouts honor and no BS this pedal will satisfy if not then nothing else, (*_*) its that awesome lol

CmatMods SuperSigna. Does it all. Have 2 just in case 1 should break down. Scarce probability as built like a tank. The most transparent, versatile, great sounding double OD/Boost pedal I have ever played. Tried a dozen “legendary” ones, but I always come back to it.

Boutique - Earth Drive by Sarno Music Solutions. Very responsive.

cheap - TC Spark (big one) or EHX Soul Food. Soul Food has the klon thing going on. Spark sounds more like I’m pushing tubes - I use spark with both guitar and bass.

    My 3 cents:
Clean boost: MXR Boost/Line Driver. Perhaps too clean. Pure db, +/-20. Can push any other pedal over any edge imho.

Low gain: ThorpyFX Peacekeeper (UK made, but they also speak English ). Love at first "hear". Versatile and stacks nicely as last pedal.
Greer Lightspeed also great, but too close to Peacekeeper to justify keeping both.
