I have a few pitch shifters, a whammy, one by Boss, the Helix has a couple, but they all sound sort of cheesy especially in the high end. Has anyone heard a good pitch shifter? One that doesn't make highs sound like brittle anime toys, or does decent pitch shifting even exist?
in the case of Tom, he only uses the first version of the whammy, simply because the tracking is a little slower than the later versions. It garbles if you play more than one note, and he uses it to great effect, like here (Also, it's one of the few songs he plays normal solos!):
Hmm maybe it's me then, I have a digitech whammy (newer model) and it sounds OK when you go down, but increasingly worse the higher you pitch.
For pure pitch shifting I'd say EHX Pitch Fork. Turn the level down a bit and it sounds less digital. For harmonizing def look at the TC Quintessence. It's pretty amazing.
