I had posted before how he found his stolen strat from 1991 a few weeks ago but this video surfaced today.

Not the guitar you would expect to have made Gish, but when he plays it you know it's the one.

I dig him. He get's razzed on a lot for some reason. But I dig his unique voice. I dig his songwriting.

I’ve been a fan since the first time I heard the Smashing Pumpkins in the early 90’s. Gish and Siamese Dream were in the same vein as the stuff my band was playing at the time but the Smashing Pumpkins took the psychedelic guitar soundscape further than I could ever have imagined. I’m glad to see the original band is back together but sorry D’Arcy is estranged from them still.

I know... I used to use open cover humbuckers of a set neck guitar and a big multi-effects unit to get some of those tones but that Strat and some fuzz appears to be all that is needed. I’m on a mission now.

That was a cool vid. It’s definitely got the early pumpkins sound. Corgan is a great player and writer I never quite understand why they get some much negativity. Mellon Collie was a masterpiece

That and Siamese Dream were the sounds of my teenage years. Billy is great, I think he just suffered from not enjoying the excess attention that came with fame and developed a reputation as being somewhat moody and demanding. But a fantastic songwriter and oft underrated musician

That's an amazing journey. I loved the Gish album...I know every song on it. It was awesome hearing him run thru some of the bits from that album on that Strat again.

I'm a huge Billy/pumpkins fan. Always appreciate his style and vision. Great player and total badass on guitar. Very under rated. Ive seen them when they come here to London a few times...always great live.

Great video. Great story. First time I heard SP was when Siamese Dream came out. I was on ... psychedelics at my friends house. His younger sister put the album on and the liquidy stretchy rubbery guitar sound grabbed me by the boo boo. Didnt sound anything like I’d heard before. Still one of my favorite albums.

It will be interesting what they come out with. I agree it’s too bad Darcy isn’t involved.
