In true Strat talk fashion, and because there seems to be a huge amount of people out there that seem to own Gilmour Black Strat replicas, i've decided to open the Black Strat Owners Club. It's not only for Gilmour replicas.... BUT ANY BLACK STRAT :D

No Need for serial numbers if you don't want to as obviously there's many different numbers depending on whether it's a genuine Fender CS black strat, in which case the number will start with an R prefix or a partscaster, in which case the number could be absolutely anything.

No, what we're interested in here is:

1: if it's a genuine Fender CS model.

2: If it's a partscaster, list the donor parts.

I shall get the ball rolling by listing my guitars bits and pieces. You can copy and paste this into your list and substitute my parts for yours.

PartsCaster based on Strat Plus deluxe

    Serial number: E800605
Body: 1989 Alder Strat Plus Deluxe, Refinned in Black Nitro
Neck: 1989 Maple Strat Plus Deluxe
Bridge: Fender Highway 1 with Pat.Pend saddles asnd custom steel block
    Nut: Bone
Pickups: Neck fender CS Fat 50, Middle Fender CS Custom 69, bridge Seymore Duncan SSL-5
    Mini Toggle/Push/Pull Pot: Mini Toggle
    Tuners: Gotoh vintage locking

I have a couple of black strats.........first one is this DG-look alike based on my MIA 1998 Std. The pups are SD and sound great even though they do look a bit odd! The bridge is the modern two-point and it was the bridge on this guitar that convinced me that the 2-point is as good as the vintage style even though I prefer the look of the vintage.

I also have this relic partscaster, specs are as follows:

Alder USA Customs Strat body –nitro and reliced.

Allparts SRO FAT neck, carved to slight V to a C still chunky – nitro neck just plek'd w/bone nut. Radius is 9.5, frets are jumbo.

    Klein 65’ pickups

Pots are RS Guitarworks or Callaham with NOS Sprague cap.

    5-way switch/jack is from Callaham

Fender 57/62 bridge assembly (steel block)

It has also been plek'd; the only guitar I own that has had this done and I am a believer! Plays great and not a buzz anywhere on the neck and pretty low action. Currently strung with 11's even though I generally use 10's. Great guitar.

    I'm now a member.
Have a MIM black Strat I modded to be a bit like Blackie. Tuners were changed for Wilkinson vintage, Pickups for Tex-mex, I redone the neck finish to yellowed it and also changed the decal for a spaghetti one. Pickguard and all plastic parts are Vintage white.
    There it is:

I own a couple of black Strats... this one is sort of Gilmour-ish...

It started out as a 1994 MIK Squier (CN4 made at the Cort factory). I swapped in a set of GFS Premium Texas Stagger Alnico pickups, a GFS electronics upgrade kit + a Sprague Orange Drop .47uf cap, a black pickguard, a GFS MIM vintage style (steel block) upgrade trem and a set of Wilkinson Vintage Kluson-style tuners.

This one is a little more of a shred-monster...

It started out as a 2000 MIC Squier SE (CAE-00). I swapped in a set of GFS Lil' Killer single coil sized humbuckers, a set of Guitar Fetish's Gotoh-style locking tuners and roller string trees and a Wilkinson trem.

    My house.
Mine started out as a sunburst ash deluxe players strat. It has morphed into a

    MIM black body
MIM deluxe palyer neck with 12" radius rosewood fret board
    Deluxe player hardware
    Lace sensor golds for now
Mint green pick guard from gfs

It is truly a mutt with white pickup covers, mint PG, and cream knobs and gold hardware. I think it loks cool, but in a muttly kind of way. Oh I had to replace the switch that gives the extra pickup combos with a radio shack switch. But I bought the wrong one and its black and doesnt do anything except fill the hole in the PG. Will try to post some pics.

My Black Strat ..... Kind of : )

Here's a picture of the only Black Strat I have, it counts right? Even though
    it has a Tele neck:D

Squier 51, Box Stock / No Mods....
I really enjoy it the way it is! Has one of the finest necks I've played. I guess
I was drawn to it because of it's unique looks and features with the pickguard
as well as being a Hardtail with the Tele Neck, Humbucker & Spliter!

Picked it up Brand New off of Ebay delivered for just over a $100.00 bucks!
Can't beat that! I think it's a pretty good looking Strat. I'll be keeping this one!
