This is a Squier Strat that originally came with a mirror pickguard. I initially replaced that with a tortoise shell pickguard, but since I have the black headstock on this guitar, I decided to black it all out. I put on black hardware, including black Planet Waves tuners, recessed Dunlop straplocks, and a traditional bridge instead of the two-point trem.

I scalloped the neck from the 12th to the 22nd. I also replaced the white dots with ebony dots, and stained the neck black to match. With the SD JB in the bridge and a Hot Rails in the neck (stock middle), it plays and sounds amazing. Plenty of quack when I split the coils.

Just in the process of adding 2 Seymour Duncan duckbuckers to the Lil 59.
It'll never sound like it's big brother, but I don't want it to when I need that single coil sound.

Can't remember if I've thrown mine in here! If not, here it is!

This is "drop". A MIM upgraded, use it for all the sets drop D stuff.

Knackered and beaten, gigged and ragged senseless but I love it.

Spot what my daughter stuck to the back of it!!!! ImageUploadedByStrat-Talk forum1436216577.150843.jpg ImageUploadedByStrat-Talk forum1436216589.616779.jpg

    My First Black Strat

My First Black Strat (and first post); apologies if these photos don't attach as planned.

    AllParts body
    Warmoth neck
    Kluson Vintage tuners
    Fender American Standard bridge
DiMarzio Area pickups - '58 neck, '67 middle, '61 bridge

This guitar took a while to complete, but I'm really happy with it, in particular the Area pickups. I'm playing around with this through my Boogie with a RAT II and Tube Screamer, and I'm in tone heaven right now. This coming from someone who has never been particularly fond of his own tone.

I'm going to spend some quality time with this thing, but I'm already thinking about the next Black Strat project :D

I have a Black MIJ I picked it up years ago in a local pawn shop for $125 a friend had an old 73 clear ash Strat US he took the pick guard with everything on it out of and he gave it to me
so I trashed mine and put it together. Its bastardized but it's awesome.
I have a few strats and I have to tell you That MIJ had the most comfortable neck IMO.

    The serial # is e 836452

My only black guitar a '92 Fender Floyd Rose OEM classic Strat HSS, at the back bottom of neck it says Made in Japan S/N J01XXXX and it have an offset neck back plate with Fender USA markings.

My other two Fender Strats are both white and I've got an Ibanez synthesizer MIDI guitar in silver.

Well, I've got some pictures of it now. Originally an 08 Affinity. I changed up the logo myself. It's got overwound ceramic pickups(10k/9.5k/9k), a neck on switch, GFS stainless block saddles, and the neck tone wired to also work on the bridge. The neck/bridge tone pot is a TBX and the middle pickup's tone is a standard pot.

So I've got standard 5-way, but with a tone on the bridge plus bridge/neck with master tone and all three on with the middle on it's own tone control.

Thanks! I got lucky, was shopping for a Strat and that was on the wall at my local shop here in Va Beach, Fender only made 150 of them that year, part of the ebony and ivory run back in '10. I really like maple fretboards and burst finishes but this one just had a look that I thought was just too "cool" I guess to pass up.

Ok, seeing as I've come back to Strat Talk... I thought i'd re-post some pics of my 89 Strat Plus Delux to a Gilmour Black Strat conversion. There is a thread on this from ages ago if it's still there that details the whole thing, from beginning to end.
