My 1980 Tokai Silver Star ....One of the best playing Strats i have ever owned....
I love those old Tokais... They were bang on, and I love the cheeky Tokai logo made to look like a Fender logo.
I joined the club about a month ago:
I bought this 1989 62' AVRI last year. I never cared much for the color combination. I bought this guitar from another local guitarist because of the tone and the deal I was getting. Black definitely grew on me though.
Its close to being a strat. Smaller body... Tele style square cut neck heel. Only 2 knobs...
Zzzzz... 87' MIK E7 Bullet... Classic Vibe 50's pups(Tonerider), Tusq nut, Alpha 250s, sprague 47, switchcraft jack and etc...
My only actual black strat... Was originally a stock tuxedo(white PG/plastics) when I got it...
Zzzzz... 87' MIK E10 57'... Classic Vibe 50's pups, Tusq nut, Alpha 250s, Sprague 47, switchcraft jack and etc...
I've always had my Black Strat; been fashioning it into a Gilmour inspired beast for a long time, though it's uniquely mine.
My Blackie started out as a stock Affinity
Then the magic happened:
Fender TexMex pickups
GPR bridge and big steel block
CRL 5 way switch
CTS 250k pots
Orange Drop cap
Black knobs, rear cover, switch tip and jiggle bar tip
Black Tusq XL nut
Roller string trees
Fret level, crown and polish
Dressed fret ends and rolled fingerboard
Plays and sounds real nice now!
That's it next to my wife's Torino Red Mini Strat on the workbench
The fender is "Jenn" and the squire is " my sweets". Kinda like the doublemint twins in different flavors
Just fu%÷*n georgous
I bet one of these isn't in here.
Nice princess...my grandaughter wants to jewel mine....gotta luv it
My CS Clapton Blackie escorted by the red ones ...... ;-)
Gilmour'd Eric Johnson
I'll join the club. Just picked this one up yesterday.
Hey...thats my guitar
MIM that I got in 2000. Just recently got back into playing and decided to upgrade it a little. Doesn't look too bad to have been case kept for 17 years.
Fender pickguard loaded with CS Texas Specials (added a few years back)
Fender F style vintage split post tuners
I'm slated to join the club tomorrow. Picking up a MIM Fender Squier Series locally. It has a serial number starting with MN4, if I'm making out the picture correctly. Let's hope she has the neck I've been dreaming of!
