I went to look up the lyrics, and it's written by Waylon Jennings! I knew I could hear some phrasing of his or Merle Haggard in that tune.

I think Foley wrote it, but I’m not certain of that… but I am certain that Merle covered this tune at least twice which is how I got to Blaze Foley in the first place. I think.

You are correct sir! The site where I looked at the lyrics had Waylon Jennings, then another site with the lyrics had Merle Haggard, when I finally looked up the song it was Blaze Foley
