Hopefully arriving today or tomorrow. Going Friday with the neighbor who went to college on a Golf scholarship LOL. I haven't golfed since 2007. This ought to be funny.

We're taking our sons and hitting the links. I bet his kid is good too and I'm bringing Happy Gilmour

I have an old set of clubs but other than the antique driver "Billy Baroo", they're crap... I need all the help I can get....

Have fun! I recently started playing golf again, myself. Hadn't played in years.

Yell loudly at the ball: "Don't you want to go home ??!!!!"

For me it's simple: Lower expectations = better game.

Seriously, the best round I ever played was after I put down the clubs for about 15 years. I went out for a scramble and had zero expectations, so I didn't care how I did.

The more I overthink it or harder I try, the worse I play.

Golf can make for a wonderful day or a terrible day, largely depending on my attitude.

One of my favorite days was when I played a scramble with a couple of really good guys, so the only shot of mine that might matter would be due to luck. So I tried a Terry Bradshaw, drop-back drive: stand two steps in front of your ball to the side, crouched like a quarterback and check off your line; yell "hut" and drop back three steps; step forward like throwing a pass and swing away. Since it didn't matter, I nailed it several times. Somehow the Happy Gilmore-ish, carefee movements let me actually keep my eye on the ball and head down. Never worked again, though, because I had expectations it would.

I've had great luck getting used Ping sets off of ebay. I like the dot system Ping uses. Makes it easy to get the right sized clubs ... provided one knows their size.

Those are nice. I got the Top Flite set. I'm lefty so it made it tough trying to find a set in the store yesterday. There were zero left handed sets. The length on the right handed set of the Top flights seemed fine so hopefully i'm good. Eventually I wouldn't mind a nice Calloway set or something but wife would have killed me if I dropped that much on a Friday afternoon outing. If it turns into a regular thing I can upgrade.

I had the same experience, went to a store, spent 30 minutes trying different club to find out that they didn't have the clubs I wanted in stock. So ended up ordering online. At least they had the demo to try for lefties....

My wife's a lefty. Again ebay and Ping club sets to the rescue. She's fairly tall and strong for a woman, so she has no trouble playing men's sets. I just make sure to get her a ladies driver. She loves her set.

When we go on vacation we just rent clubs. Off the shelf clubs work for me, and a standard men's lefty set works for her. Makes it easy. And usually we get some really nice Taylormade rental sets.

If it’s your first time swinging in 14 years…Leave the driver in the bag. Tee off with your 5-wood if you have one. Don’t pull anything lower than the 5-iron maybe a 6-iron.

Wouldn't the driver be easier to get it off the tee? I think my old set only had a couple of woods. No Driver. I did ok with those but not gonna lie... there was some wiffs and foul balls LOL

Play a few rounds and then have them professionally fitted for you. A lot of people assume that golf clubs come from the rack ready for everyone that buys them to work for their swings. Not true. Everyone's grip and swing is unique and you will benefit from the adjustments that a professional club fitter can do. Just my 2 cents.
