So we all have a hundred crappy sorties about things going on right now, that's the low hanging fruit. I want to hear some good stories about how businesses are at least trying to make an effort for their workers right now. My older brother works at Cracker Barrel in Oklahoma City and has done for many years. They're paying the laid off staff 60% of their regular weekly wages, giving them 1 free meal a day and doing their best to get everyone at least a few hours each week. He needs that and I appreciate it. My son is a body man for a mega car dealership here in Indiana. Car dealerships are NOT known for caring about employees and especially the maintenance/body staff. He was told he'll be getting $650 a week no matter what happens going forward. Not a ton of money of course but it's better than zero. I read that Starbucks is drive through only at this point but for the next 5 weeks they're bumping up everyone's pay by $3 an hour. These are all good stories in my book.

I am trying but cant think of anything. Of course being retired I am out of the loop.
Will keep looking at this thread, yes its important to know and remember who you can rely on.
    Positive stories are good
    P.S.:
I just read that Tesla's factory will reopen and make ventilators.
Booze distillers are making hand sanitizers.
    Fashion designers are making masks.
Some of our internet providers, Videotron, lifted the monthly limits of internet so people could work from home without having to worry about extra fees, they also pretty much unscranmbled all their tv channels

There is a local Brewery/distillery here in KC called J. Rieger's that continues to make and bottle alcohol but since they can't run their two night clubs that are attached to the company they have started making and bottling hand sanitizer for both the public and to donate to the hospitals and first responders. The stuff they are selling is for really reasonable prices too. it's like $25/gallon or the 4 ounce bottles is like $2. :thumb: Doing this helps not only the public and hospitals but has kept all of their employees working.

I always try to do my part here locally. I would rather keep my money here in town.

A local brewery near me started making hand sanitizer and is donating it to the Fire Department, hospitals and the Police. Great people!

REALLY small restaurant near me is giving all of its employees and their family a free meal every day. They are still "open" serving take-out only but I'm sure business is almost nothing for them. Nice gesture by them to feed their staff and extended family especially considering they aren't some large corporate conglomerate with deep pockets!

Good stuff, keep it coming. I understand some of the auto plants near me are also ramping up to make face masks.

Employees of my company literally worked 24 hrs a day to design and distribute a covid test within one week.

A local food place that always does Thanksgiving dinners for the homeless this week asked the city how they could make dinners for the local folks who need them and they donated as many as they asked for. Also their food is really great deli style and reasonable prices. I will be back there soon.

Dyson signing up to make 10,000 ventilators for the NHS. Even if it’s a straight business transaction, they will lose a lot by disrupting the normal factory output.
Plus the supermarkets, normally fiercely competitive but now coming together to share depots, vans and distribution.

Google just cut off my daughter's internet service for the payment being a day late.
This is in violation of a local decree that there are not supposed to be any utility service disconnections.
She uses the internet as part of her job.
Yet they still seem to be getting away with it.
