I responded to an ad where someone local was having a clear out of guitars, electric and acoustic, and I picked up a Squier California model for a virtually give away price. After a bit of research I find they are pretty rare in Oz. Its unmarked but the whammy bar had been broken off in the bridge. I had a spare term block so I replaced the one with the whammy bar stub. With a new set of strings and a setup it has turned out to be a nice guitar.

That's pretty cool! I'd never even heard of the California series.

Wonder what makes it Cali approved? Nice light flame on the neck!

I am undecided at the moment whether to keep it or flip it. I am getting too many guitars.

    .

I bought a guitar before with a broken whammy bar inside the block. That one I used a sharp pointed chisel to make an indent near the broken bar outer rim in the block and then used a small hammer and tapped it around and around until the broken end came up where I could get grip pliers on it. Here are some other tools. Then you'll have a good block to use on another guitar.
