I'm not in pursuit of the Great White Whale (or any white guitars...or any whales for that matter) but I'm curious about something.
Did the "White Whale" ever come with a maple fret board?
    How about the Sunburst?

A guy in a pub hears two ladies speaking with an accent. "Are you two ladies from England?" he asks. "It's Wales you arsehole!" one of them replies. "Oh, my apologies. Are you whales from England?"

I don't remember Melville specifying what type of wood the harpoons were made of. But there was one where the metalwork was quenched in human blood. Ahab was weird.

I couldn't remember ever seeing a picture of one at the various "for sale" and enthusiast forums I've frequented over the years.
A maple fretboard (with a finish I like) tends to influence my interest in pursuing things such as these.

    Many thanks for the information.

Look for Starcaster by Fender Strats then - usually large headstock, but some of them have 2 piece maple necks, a LOT actually - and full thickness bodies. Same specs and quality as an SE, otherwise.

    Interesting. Good to hear.
My opinion of Starcasters is limited and my experience with them is less than that. I can never get the marketing plan Fender/Squier has used/is using by introducing more models to compete with their own strong market share.
