Dancing with the stars
Foyt, Mears & Unser never won DWTS.
I have no idea what the last two posts mean
AJ Fort, Roger Mears and the Unsers, not sure if they meant Bobby or Al, never won Dancing With The Stars. Of course that show wasn't on when they were active
Helio Castroneves won the annual Indianapolis 500 race today. For the 4th time.
A.J. Foyt, Rick Mears & Al Unser Sr. have also won the race 4 times, making them a very elite groups of race car drivers. The Indy 500 is the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing" here in the U.S. of A., the race itself dating back to 1911, with a few interrupted years during WWII I believe.
I grew up about a half hour south of the Speedway, and attended many Indy 500s from 1965 on. My father worked for Cummins Engine Co. and they always sponsored an Indy car, so I got to tag along with dad in the good seats and massive parties in the infield of the racetrack.
I had forgotten somewhat about Helios participation in the Dancing With The Stars TV show, let alone that he actually won. I do recall Helio losing his temper one year at an IndyCar race in Edmonton Alberta Canada (he is a fiery, diminutive Brazilian after all,) and shoving a huge race official security guard in some sort of confrontation. The race official was considerably larger than Mr. Castroneves, and just smiled when Helio shoved him.

More likely the fact that they never became washed-up has-beens made them ineligible for that dreck.
"I entered two races this year, and won them both! Not bad!"
Was so happy to see him get this one.
Helio’s one of the good ones. Comes across great on TV and pretty hard to dislike. He ran a great race and it was fun to seem him win. Good show, mate!
Two races in what? Genuinely curious . .
My favorite race car driver. I think because he reminds me of Roberto Benigni in Life is Beautiful.
I lived in Indianapolis the first 29 years of my life. Never went to the 500. Since they don’t show it live on tv for a hundred miles in any direction from Indy, I only actually watched one on a satellite dish (1992-the closest finish ever).
In 2003 I moved to Chicago and I’ve watched it on tv every year. Only race I watch. Moved back near Indy last summer and both races have been on tv here due to some virus or something.
I was pumped up today when Helio won.
He’s quite old for a driver so he runs a very limited race schedule per season now. He raced a sports car race (not in open-wheeled Indy cars) and won as part of a team at the 24 Hours of Daytona race in his only other event so far this season. So he’s two-for-two in 2021.
