I am back to working from home, doing telecom stuff with technicians working in the field so I am in my spare room logged in and on the phone from 6a to 230p. Since it's been that way a lot of the year, my cats have kind of gotten used to having me around. Mike the cat is acting less scaredy cat but Mr. Joe is MORE DEMANDING THAN EVER. So I am on the phone, literally talking to a guy who is about to work on a piece of telecom equipment in GA. We are about to get into the stuff and Mr. Joe the Man Cat starts shouting at me asking for food. Mind you, he had already had breakfast. So when shouting did not work he came over and was pawing at me. So, I had to tell this highly trained professional that needed my professional help "I'm sorry, give me a minute, I really need to get my cat out of this room. I will be right back."

Yeah, probably so. I was on the phone several hours a couple of weeks ago with IT Desktop Support HelpDesk and I could hear some little kids running around making noise in the background. :D

I love cats. I have for years. I have one who is a bit demanding when he wants attention, but he is a sweetheart. He knows when I am not feeling well, and always comforts me. He is sleeping in my lap right now.

They are wonderful companions and amazing little creatures. One of the amazing things is that they are willing to be dicks to animals ten times their size.

My cat was the opposite of yours. He always had to be right next to me - sitting on my lap, sitting on the floor or bed next to me. I had to have him in the studio when I recorded vocals, because if I closed the door, he would sit outside and make this loud sobbing sad cat groan and the mic would pick it up. Same if I was on a work call, so he would just sleep on the floor - if I closed the door he would start his noise making again. Poor little fella had a seizure and died at my feet when mixing International Metal Coalition's "The Heretic" back in June. I miss him a bunch. He was a smart little guy - he could speak on command, shake hands, and even taught himself to open the door out to the garage. When he was young he often sat on my shoulder like a parrot when I was sitting down. He was definitely a dick to my daughters cat though - always picked on her and took possession of her cat tree.

Sorry to hear of his passing.

My Mr. Joe is the same as far as wanting to be close by, it's just that his wanting to be with combined with him wanting more food and me working do not make a great combination. My work is a bit stressful and I ACTUALLY HAVE TO THINK. Which I resent.

I was on a conference call the other day, and every time I would speak in the meeting, my cat would start loudly answering me.

Me: "Yes, I can pull that documentation."
    My Dumb Cat: MOOOOOOWW

Me: "Sure, I can have that tomorrow."
    My Dumb Cat: MOOOOOOWW

Repeat for the ENTIRE meeting. This particular cat is usually only interested in my daughter and mostly completely ignores my existence. Until this very special moment , that is.

Thanks. I never really liked cats before my daughter got him from a shelter. We bonded from the start. Ozzy absolutely loved hanging out with me in my studio. Here is a graphic I put in the video of the song I was mixing. My daughter painted the picture for me a couple years ago, which will be fitting to hang in the studio now.

No, they're cats. You expect them to act any other way?
