It was made in the 70's, but it sounds like it was made yesterday.

I have not seen that film. I've seen many films, but not that one.

(There are currently 1,093,093 feature films, shorts, and made-for TV movies listed on the Internet Movie Database.)

Worth a watch. As the OP said it no less relevant now than it was then...even more so IMO.

Don't you find that the least be disturbing? The stuff he is ranting about has gone on now for almost 5 decades.

Quite. But then I've always noted that evolution is a very slow, very sloppy process.

You can mark the real downward slide of this country from one seminal event and that was the deregulaton of ownership of media in the 80's. If memory serves a great deal of the impetus for that was when Rupert Murdoch started buying up media properties here.

It's been a pretty steady downhill slide since then, with almost all media in this country, (90%+) being held by 6 mega-corporations whose interests do not coincide with a mission of informing and educating, which are considered essential to a free republic. The Fourth Estate is a pathetic shell of it's former self.

This breakdown, provided in a marketing publication, provides some idea of the scope of consolidation.
