Quite. But then I've always noted that evolution is a very slow, very sloppy process.
You can mark the real downward slide of this country from one seminal event and that was the deregulaton of ownership of media in the 80's. If memory serves a great deal of the impetus for that was when Rupert Murdoch started buying up media properties here.
It's been a pretty steady downhill slide since then, with almost all media in this country, (90%+) being held by 6 mega-corporations whose interests do not coincide with a mission of informing and educating, which are considered essential to a free republic. The Fourth Estate is a pathetic shell of it's former self.
