Since nothing else has been proposed, here's something for ya:

This is the full collab version done by @alainvey and myself awhile back,
which will be part of an upcoming album (to be released in the next few months):

Well, i won't give you the actual chords because there are way too many of them
and people around here tend to freak out about that... but... conceptually speaking
this is based on quartal harmony for the most part, so they are neither minor nor major in quality.
4ths and 9ths instead of 3rd and 7ths... which opens up a LOT of possibilities.
i was trying to avoid the usual standard progressions with this one, so don't approach it like that.
Think more of tonal centres instead.
F minor pentatonic might be a decent starting point, or even F diminished.
You can also try Bb Aeolian, Eb Dorian, and Ab Mixolydian modes for some different colours.

Since I understand 中國話 better than @dogletnoir's jazz, I made a quick “instinctive” go at it sorta in a Dm-ish kinda thing - it some related modality - during lunch on the new Gretsch hollowbody.

The sparseness of the single notes accentuates the melodic choice against the backing harmony. Very Miles Davis-like in approach... thanks for joining in.

Instinctive is fine... and it doesn't sound like it was too much torture to play along with, LOL.
Nice job with the Gretsch; there's nothing like the fat sound of a hollowbody archtop, is there?

More than that, I've discovered how much better the Filtertrons are (mine are blacktops) than Gibson-style humbuckers for my style of playing. It's making me seriously want a Gretch solidbody too.

And for me, there's a bit of torture when I have difficulty feeling the song, which I do here. I think the key was to focus on the bass to at least get through it. This is a Challenge after all.

I was going to put that as a suggestion; glad that you mentioned it as a way into the track,
and that you gave it a go.
