10. The Coyote can never win. Otherwise the cartoon will end.
Not really I have the newer version
Wile Coyote was a product tester for Acme. It explains how he could quickly and easily get so much stuff from them.
Chuck Jones and the gang were the high point of cell animation.
The TV Show
Chuck Jones was a genius.
It was cruelty to animals, by animals, who were humans.
I feel like I have more to say about Chuck Jones “genius.” I use that word in the sense of its root, which it shares with gene and genus, to mean someone with the creative vision to create what didn’t exist before. Edison was shrewd, but Tesla was a genius.
When you think of Chuck Jones’ impact on popular culture - he created the broken but still-striving Everyman Wile E. Coyote, the oblivious lady’s man Pepe Le Pew, and (most importantly) the true personalities of Bugs, Daffy, Porky and Elmer Fudd - you have to give him his propers.
And there was Mel Blanc voicing all of them. Well, the classic era stuff.
Mel Blanc was an excellent talk show guest
the whole episode of Johnny is good(btw)
Many years ago I had bought a VCR and went to the rental store to rent a movie, got to the counter and clerk informed me I could get a free kids movie too. Didn’t have the kids that weekend, but then I saw Road Runner and Coyote. Grabbed that.
It was the ‘uncensored’ full-on violence cuts, not the tamed down versions on TV. That was the most I laughed in ages.
In 1977 at the height of the CB Radio thing, I lived in a little bachelor's apt in of all places Beverly Hills. I was a CB nut. Had a home base station and one in my car.
There was a guy who used the handle Bugs Bunny. His voice was familiar...but I couldn't nail it down. But after chatting with him I just blurted out "Do Daffy Duck". And he did it. It was Mel Blanc.
He was a kind person. And talking on the radio to a bunch of goobers! Dore Alpert was a CB'r....one time he had his dad come in and play the trumpet over the radio. The CB was our internet. LOL
from the time i was old enough to know who merv, mike and dinah were, i always did what i had to do to catch him on the talk shows... i loved him i was kid -his great personality came over the old "boobtube" (quaint days, no?) loud and clear.
