Took me awhile to ponder but it seems like gramps worry. Not that I disagree, but, like it or not, the little one's we so want to protect are going to be exposed to a big bad world. Scrapes, bites, cuts, the whole gamut of health hazards.
The worries begin with our own children, then when the grandchildren come, it begins again.
In reality you are right, it's probably not a good idea to let toddlers be in contact with wild animals. It may just as well unbeknownst to anyone be a rabid racoon or something such.

Someone gave me some driftwood. I'm placing it to let the shrubbery grow around it. A shrubbery! (The table is being given away.)

Is the fly the little box just to the right of the pedal board?

If you don't want to go through all the work of turning the volume knob down you could just build a box out 4x4 ceder posts and set it in there then pour in a bag of packing peanuts then cover the whole thing with insulation and throw some drywall over that and then put like 7 extra large winter jackets over it and then top it off with 4 large blankets and some bubble wrap and whamo it should be about the same volume as the fly. That always works for me :)
