Anyone catching Clapton on his tour this year? I'll be seeing him in concert next Monday in CT @ Mohegun Sun. For a change I finally got some decent seats towards the front. With such an array of songs to draw from, I am curious what his set lists will include?

Great stuff Dennis! Hopefully you can report back on the gear the EC is using this time round; I had read that he may be introducing a couple of new Fenders during this tour.

I'll certainly get some pics. Om on the floor near center in an end seat, so I have no excuse for bad pictures...

Tonight's the night. I going to give myself a few hours lead time to beat the traffic. I figure the spare time I'll have by getting there early can be spent in the casino tossing my quarters away...;)

Well I have to say, the concert came and went quick. Clapton had a great set and some great musicians on stage with him. Robert Randolph was his opening performer. Ever wanna see some great Lap Steel playing, check out R.R.!

I got there early and got in to take some pre-show stage pics. Here are a few:

Clapton played about 70% of the show on his Red Sparkle Strat w/ maple neck (by the way no pics of any of his gear as they kept in under cover to the rear of stage right. This was my first time attending a concert at Mohegan Sun and I have to say, their staff is a bit over the top when it comes to photo enforcement. They were running around to anyone who took out of cell phone during the show making sure no videos were being taken. It got to the point of being disruptive to the rest of us who were just trying to watch the show... I had a regular digital camera but just left it on the floor to not be bothered by the "inspectors".

Anyhow, on stage with Clapton was:

Doyle Bramhall who's guitar playing always leaves me wanting to see/hear more. He and Clapton interchanging leads and most of the songs was the highlight of the show. Bramhall's lefty and reverse string configuration is real interesting to watch!

Pino Palladono who's seemingly the headliner bassist for these big tours. He didn't really standout at this show, but his playing was spot-on.

Chris Stanton was on the Keyboard assignment and he really rocked alll night long.

    Ian Thomas was on Drums.

Clapton used his Martin 000-28 for about 4 songs, and with great tone and feel. Of course the highlight song of the set that they really rocked out on was the obligatory Layla. Really shook the place up!

I'd recommend the show if it's passing by your area.

Wow.....looks like you had great seats! Glad you enjoyed the show and the camera thing at rock shows is goofy. I can never understand why performers want to not let themselves be photographed. They are in the public-eye and you would think that more photos would keep them there longer! And keeping guitars backstage is normal for a lot of artists but again, Clapton fans have always obsessed over his gear and even he does so why not indulge the die-hard gear-heads with letting them see the 'mystical' instruments? Oh well.....there is my rant for the day! Thank god I am not famous!!;)

Actually, those pics were pre-show so I walked up to the front and received permission to get these pics. My seat was on the aisle and was off to the right front center, great viewing.

He also mentioned Bo Diddley's passing and played Before You Accuse Me as a tribute...

By the way, his '08 Tour Program is very cool. It documents the many guitars he has had with some photos Some of the pics are new to me from way back when... I'll scan a few pages tonight and post them up. Maybe these are on eBay already, I haven't looked yet. I, of course, paid the ridiculous concert venue price of $20, but it beat the the $35/$40 Concert Tee's....
