I am starting this thread because I was inspired by the Classic Vibe Tele Owners Club on TDPRI (our sister site). The thread there has grown to become enormous. One thing they do is have the members who own a CV tele to introduce themselves and share their serial #. If we can get a list going of serial #'s it can be useful down the road to compare quality and any changes in the model line. Basically all you need to do is copy and paste the most updated list of serial numbers and post your username: serial # in order by serial #. You can also feel free to ask questions, post feedback/reviews, and post pictures. Also since there are two strat models, indicate whether you have the 50's or 60's model. I'll start:

    ccrnnr9: CGS080100213; CV 50's

Thanks for the reply. Just to make sure we have a list instead of random posts with serial #'s I will ask that everyone add there name to the "master list" in serial # order like so:

    CGS080100014: Dauntless; CV 50's
    CGS080100213: ccrnnr9; CV 50's

Welcome Dauntless! If you know anyone else with a CV tell em to come on over! Also when did you pick yours up? From as much as I can tell about the CV serial #'s you have the 14th made and mine is the 213th made. I picked mine up about 3 weeks ago. I know these haven't sold as well as the CV 50's tele.

Thanks for the add Glenn. Just out of curiosity from an objective owner of all three, which is your favorite? Also I would gander based on serial#'s that your CV 50's and mine were built on the same day.

I haven't played them enough to have a favorite, especially since I spent most of the last two weeks in China. I just like spending a little bit for a lot of guitar.

A quote from the guitar shop owner, after I made him play the 60s right before I took it home - "That's $900 tone".

First time poster (followed ccrnnr9's link from the tele forum). I love Strat's and Tele's, but bought the CV 50's because the Alnico III pick-up's sound so different from what I have.

I think this has to easily be the best bang for the buck guitar. Not much not to like. Vintage tuners, great neck (nice tint), body matched so well that you have to look at the back to see it's not one piece, nice fret job, etc. Looks like an Eric Johnson.

I have only a couple of minor quibbles, and they're pretty much cosmetic. The pick-guard is just too darned bright white. Hopefully that will change, but I'll probably replace it with a mint or not so bright white. The vintage covers on the pick-up's are really cool and old looking, but do not match the knobs. I'm going to try and find a match for the pu's, but if not possible I'll replace them all so they match.

Sound-wise this one sounds just a little thin compared to other Strat's I've owned. It might be the vintage Alnico III's, but I also found the metal part of the tremolo which the strings pass through (not sure what the correct name for this part is) is about half the thickness of my other Strat. I'll probably replace this part just to see if it makes a difference, but I still like the uniqueness of the sound regardless.

Great looks, plays like a dream and sounds really good. What else could one ask for? I bet if these guitars had a Fender Custom Shop sticker on them folks would have a hard time telling the difference. :0)

First time poster here too. Recently got my CV 50's and sure enough she's a sweetie! It does sound a little brighter than my other strat, although that's a Tokai with a sen ash body, rosewood fretboard and older strings as opposed to a (light) alder body, maple board and new strings - in reality it's what you might expect the difference between a 50's and 60's strat to be. If I could I'd be snapping up the 60's CV too - but these are $700 over here - still a great deal but not quite so cheap to acquire!

I have a CV 50s Strat as well, but I won't post the serial on the net. That is just me.
    I do have pics though.
This one is with my 50th Ann.

    CGS080100118: asc67; CV 50's
