This is exactly how I roll. I like my coffee how I like my woman. cold and bitter and with a splash of whisky when needed.

It can be done on a stove top in a frying pan...but I have never done it that way.

I have a very specialized roaster...
    A hot air popcorn popper.

Only modification was to disable the 'thermocouple' overheat shut-off (by simply fusing it) and fashioning a chimney out of 3" duct so my beans don't fly out.

And I recommend doing it outside because it's really smokey...

A how to from a local supplier can be found here...

Or find a shop locally. It helps to have a guide. Without one I probably wouldn't have discovered my preference for African coffees.

And like everything, it has its own language.

Raw, or green coffee is distinguished by...
    country,
    elevation,
    processing/drying station,
and processing type (washed, natural, something called 'honey') ...

the coffee @Seamus OReally mentioned, the
Yirgacheffe, is an Ethiopian that was processed at the Yirgacheffe station. As you can imagine, there are lots of stations.

And yes, an Ethiopian from the
Yirgacheffe station will taste different from other stations because each is grown in different areas and at different elevations.

When it comes to coffee I can't take any responsibility for what happens before the first or after the third cup.

Morning cup one of two. Cranking out some work.

I love coffee, but am pedestrian in application. Some good medium blend with a splash of cream or milk and I’m happy. My wife doesn’t drink coffee so anything fancier mostly is lost or goes to waste. Maybe now that my kids are getting bigger I’ve entertained the idea of being a little fancier. We shall see.

How many coffee makers do you need? One more than you already have.

No. I can't get the results I want with a pop corn popper. Plus I can only tolerate about 1/2 cup of regular coffee. Roasting decaf that tastes good is even harder.

Currently the medium roast blend I am hooked on has beans from Ethiopia, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Peru. I have it on subscription.
