Well I was surprised a bit
To paraphrase Hank Hill, you can't mix corpse paint and country music! You're makin' 'em both worse!
well, it's not Bro country...but, enough beer and someone will like it.
In the words of the great Popeye, "Well blow me down."
Music to embalm by.
Better than anything Florida Georgia Line or Eric Church has put out. Sounds like real country to me.
The KFC bucket can't be far off....
That's as bad as Neil Young posing for country. And punk. And ska, and....is he done yet? And would this be stunt bait?
wtf?..The Struts???..think I saw them on that interview show with Stryker.
The last things that come to mind about them are Country and Metal.
"...I don't think Hank done 'em this a' way..."
Take away the video and it’s a good country number, lyrics too.
I agree. Not much left that SOUNDS like actual country to me. Jason Isbel & The 400 Unit are worth checking out...
Drive By Truckers were pretty good. I was Country DJ. Had to suffer through Puke Bryan and the rest. Won't even turn modern country on now. I have my Waylon records. That works for me.
kinda of my speed
Man Drive-by-Truckers are as real as it gets when it comes to great songs, they may not all be expertly arranged or sang even but they got some killer tunes. All from the heart, thats what I hear with DBT! Love em!
The article explains it pretty well if you haven't read it
First, DBT were a good band, but the topic matter doesn't work for anything I gig? Not a band I'd cover, at least not my gigs. Its a shame, cause I like their arrangements and sound, and instrumentation.
Second, and more importantly, and even related, is the current trend in country music. I'm not talking about modern country whining. The last couple times I suffered thru the CMT Top 20, I was astonished that every single tune is slow, really slow, and down, really down stuff. Not a single danceable, upbeat, driving music tune at all. Not a single performable tune for a bar, unless you are trying to incite a slow suicide. At least Luke Bryan and Erich Church and even FGL had some stuff you could play at the bar. Much puzzled with this trend. And then there's this tune, that is singable and even danceable, definitely driving music - but with corpse paint, lol. Its true, Hank J, I'm a Dinosaur, lol.
But that pedal steel riff...
