Good job, means it's working. Never heard about the toes thing. But yeah, I would check with my doctor if it persists or gets worse. Sounds like a weird thing to happen from a vaccine, but the immune system is itself a pretty weird thing!
Yeah the "covid toes" after vaccine is a thing, usually it's a rash or reddening of the toes that can last up to 2 weeks; I'd still see my pcp about it.
Keep hearing all these nightmare stories about the vaccines. Apparently over 4K people have outright died, from getting the shot? Not exactly making me want to rush on down to the doc's office, and set up an appointment to get one.
A few days of uncomfortable toes will certainly not dissuade me from getting my second shot. I want to see my three children and six grandchildren again!
Not sure where you hear that, haven’t heard it myself. Google tells me that 2.9 million people have died from Covid-19, I also heard a lot of nightmare stories about Covid-19. Anyways, got my first shot, didn’t feel a thing. For me it’s a no brainer The only nightmare story about the vaccine I heard is some Strat-talk member lost his toes, no big deal
Ya... even if that number if accurate, it is statistically insignificant... even if it is 4,000 in only the US. US vaccinations exceed 56m out of a population of 350m, so 4000 would represent 1 out of every 14,000 vaccinations... 0.007%. If that number is global, it is completely meaningless. It is not a large enough sample to positively define a correlation between the vaccine and the actual cause of death. For perspective, automobile accidents in the US kill 35,000 every year.
I've never had a reaction to any vaccine. My mother had a pockmark on her leg from the Polio vac. Miz Diane's arm was a little sore after Pfizer #1. I had nothing. We're getting #2 next week...I'm not expecting a reaction but am prepared if it happens. I dropped an 8ft pressure-treated 4X4 across the top/arch of my right foot two weeks ago...hurt like hell. Weirdly, it didn't bruise on the arch but slowly turned my toes purple. They're back to normal now. Damn, that hurt!
I've not had any kind of reaction other than a mildly sore arm until a couple of years ago. There was a hepatitis outbreak in a few major cities in SoCal, and my boss at the time did a lot of work through his church with the homeless. At the same time, one of our new hires had Hep-C, so we were all on edge about it. My wife and I scheduled for vaccination for Hep-A, B, and Shingles. Hepatitis-B is a series of 3 shots... one at 30 days later and the 2nd at 6 months. Hep-A and Shingrix are both at 6 months. Both the 1st and 3rd visit triggered a mild fever and general fatigue after 24 hours. I was off work those days, but had I been at work I would have needed to leave and the drive home would not have been pleasant. The first Moderna Covid shot was nothing. The soreness in my arm lasted a few days longer than a flu shot, but I had no other side effects. The 2nd one hit me mid-day yesterday and my temperature was floating between 99.5 and 101 all afternoon and evening. I took today off work as well, and over the last couple of hours my temp has normalized. Arm is still pretty tender but not noticeable unless I touch it.
The Pfizer vaccine is delivered within an polyethylene glycol bubble. It can be imagined like the yolk in an egg within the white, with the white being the glycol. 72% of people in a study showed allergic reaction to polyethylene glycol Pfizer says the amount is not enough to affect the vast majority of people But there's people out there who have anaphylactic shock from trace amounts of things https://fullfact.org/health/pfizer-vaccine-peg-ade/
Well we got our 2nd Moderna shot this morning and am glad to say so far it didn't effect me, fect me, fect me, fect me......
Thanks @Bowmap, They are just about back to normal. Small pain, long term gain, bring on the second shot!
