Ok I have had a go at decoking my Strat's pots and 5 way swiitch - still getting lots of crackles and hum through the amp and static on the fingerplate. Have attached some photos of the innards - doesn't look very neat and tidy to me especially volume pot but is this normal ? Also noticed some of the black wires (grounds I guess ?) have some of the outer insulation peeling away - not to bare wire though. Grounding point inside the body - shown on photos doesn't look very good either or again does this look normal ? Any suggestions for improvement welcome.... Some people generate lots of static on the scratchplate while they're playing. If you're one of those people, then grounding the entire thing is the only way to go. The pickup and switch screws will be grounded too as the pass through the foil, no more pops or crackles when you touch them.
