I have a beautiful Warmoth tele partscaster that I had removed the SD mini humbucker in the neck and SD Vintage P90 middle pickups and changed the pickguard for a tele neck pickup. i did some research on different wiring using a 5 way switch to obtain more tones. I came across the Craig Andertons 5 way tele mod, (which there isn't many) and used it.

I already had a Seymour Duncan Five-Two tele pickup in the bridge and I had acquired a SD Five-Two tele neck pickup, installed it in pickguard that I had traded for and wired the pickups to the 5 way switch. The switch gives you:

    1. Neck and bridge in series
    2. Neck and cap .022 uf
    3. Neck
    4. Neck and bridge in parallel
    5. Bridge

This configuration is highly useable and sounds excellent.

Interesting I have the Bill Lawrence on my tele which is standard 3 way switching between positions 5-3 (n-nb-b) position two uses a capacitor to put the neck p/u 90 degrees out of phase with the bridge and position 1 rolls off a bit of the low end on the neck PU alone

Using this mod you need to clip the ground wire on the copper clad tele pickup base and solder a new ground wire on the bridge pickup base.

I have a 4 way switch in my Tele that gives me 1,3,4 and 5.

    What's 2 sound like?

How did you find that SD mini in the neck before you took it out. I have a Michael Kelly '55 with his mini in the neck and a humbucker in the bridge, but I find the neck mini a bit muddy at time. I was wondering if you found the SD the same, seeing as how you swapped for a tele single. I'm looking for something to replace mine with something. The current one is splittable and that takes the mud out in some positions, but if there's something better?....

Of course it sounds like you have backed the tone knob somewhat. It sounds good.

I found that a mini humbucker in the neck was not a tone that I would use often. I like what I have going on now. I may never try a mini humbucker pickup in the neck ever again unless someone requests it.

Yeah..I think I could live without it too. I'll have to see how I can fit a single coil in there without changing the pickguard as that is a really beefy one with a nice bevel on the edge.

I do like P90s and humbuckers in the neck position of teles.

And after. (Sorry for the bad lighting) I like metal pickguards and this anodized aluminum lends to better shielding and I think the color looks good on this guitar.

Looks great, I just modded my 92 Tele, had to replace the neck (truss rodd was all the way turned after 28 years) so went with roasted maple, and decided to put SD mini in the neck, Area 58 in the middle, while it was done.

Had push pull on the tone to get both neck/bridge and all 3 for 7 pick up configurations.

I dropped in in 92 two days after buying it, cracking the sides (which I torched to look "aged") and had them put on a mint green pickguard back then to make it look "vintage'. this was before "relics"
