This one caught my attention. I'm not an expert on classical instruments at all, so maybe this is reasonable, if everything about it is true.

That's an interesting one for sure. Assuming this instrument is worth that kind of money, why put it on craigslist? Seems fishy

It's priced way too low, you should buy it then gamble all of that money and see if somebody is willing to pay 300,000

I'd have to sell my house. But hey, I've heard real estate is booming now :D

    It's on Reverb too.

But unless you were an expert on how Fiorini made cellos back then, and you could also look inside and verify this somehow ---like a cello colonoscopy--- how in the world would you ever be able to be sure enough to lay that kinda money down?

For that kind of dough it should have a certified appraisal by a reputable dealer/appraiser. If they're not offering any documentation it's likely a fake or a scam.

On eBay as well. Dealing in books I'd always come across people wanting to sell an "old book" for an outrageous sum, no matter what sort of book it was. I'd kindly explain a 300 year old book is not automatically worth a pile of money... Whereas a first edition of the Great Gatsby, with the book jacket, is worth...$$$$$$$....
