So I've been sitting on this for about 20 years, I got it from the Fender Custom Shop while on tour after getting endorsed by Squire, it was not working and was one of two sent to Jeff Healey for a possible JM model, it had wierd wiring that didnt work, push pulls and coil splitting tap switch, its been getting knocked around in corner of studio kinda like when I found it. Its time to get er up an running, got new black locking tuners and full contact black tremolo on the way, I probably need to add new lead pickup as I want a super hot blaster(any idea's?) Then a setup an some band logo's/grapics, the 2 things that separate this from most strats is 3 top loaded HB'ers and 22 fret neck, hopefully I can make this girl scream! image.jpeg

So Planer Waves sent 7 nuts and 5 washers:(, still it's going to the dark side, gotta find some black rollers/trees as the locking tuners are not staggered image.jpeg

That is wild! By band logo's, do you mean your own band? If not, what do you plan to add?

Dumb question, did you take out the set screw? If you merely loosened it, it might not have been backed out all the way.

And yes, when you say band logo, what do you mean??

These knobs had no set screw like the ones I was planning on putting on, I had stock strat knobs that I used after my stepson took the original black with pearl black tops. Its my band logos, it'll be something like a fender/squire version of image.jpeg image.jpeg

That's a Vista Series - so made in Japan in the late 1990s - what is the serial number?

Crafted in Japan 1997-98 according to your serial number, that's why the Vista Series logo is on there - the vista were the higher end Squiers of the time....nice!

Well if there weren't any set screws, and it was a DP/DT push pull pot, and the shaft came out, I'd say it was worn out. Captain obvious statement...

Unless you used a vice grip and a crowbar to pry the knob off...

Sorry, I'm confused, what has a Squier got to do with Fender's Custom Shop?

this particular Squire was in the Fender Custom Shop at the time I was sponsered by Squire and we were given a tour of the custom shop in 96 and I spotted a Squire there and asked why is "that" here? I was told it was 1 of 2 guitars that were prototypes for J. Healey, he kept the 1 and sent this one back, his tech had wired it with push/pulls and coil tapping and was not working, I asked if I could have it and it was given to me, I tried to wire it up VH style, 1 pu to 1 volume and for years have been trying to restore to way it should've been but its super light and with some love it may be my number 1. I had quite a few Squires but my buddy was smarter than me and wAs able to get the Custom Shop put together stuff for him for price of parts, this is a picture from back then... image.jpeg

Very cool guitar and story. So you were a member of Dread Zeppelin? If you don't mind me asking.

Vice Grips, I knew when I pushed them on that there may be an issue.
