It just occurred to me, from memory, that today is the anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy. Haven't seen it mentioned on local news outlets, not that I'm watching the news as much lately. Here in the States we may be too busy making history to remember history. 6 June 1944 D-Day
You may have a point there. Mrs. Believer and I were on the beaches at Normandy last year. Not on the anniversary but later in the year. One of the most sobering experiences I've ever had. I had to get a 75th anniversary sticker for the case too. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk
This is poignant... “It was a different world then. It was a world that requires young men like myself to be prepared to die for a civilization that was worth living in.” – Harry Read, British D-Day veteran
D day was my dad's 11th birthday, June6th is one nephew's birthday and another nephew's wedding anniversary
I’m a total WWII history buff. Anytime I can watch anything to do with Nazis getting their asses kicked, I’m in. I watch the Smithsonian and AMC Heroes channels more than any other. Dad was 600 miles away on the Lexington when one of the 2 bombs hit Japan, said it was a major whallop that far away. If I was old enough to serve back then I would have done anything to fly a Spitfire or Mustang and kick ass.
Hi, buddies When I was in high school, our class met a 101st Airborne veteran who survived D-Day Jump in. I was ashamed that my classmates did not understand those men's courage, and laughed at him. I shook his hand and said Thank You for helping defend freedom.
Found "The History Guy" a few months ago, guy is great, a pleasure to listen to. My current favorite You Goober.
