Where is good ole @Monkeyboy these days? Best I can tell, his last post here was back in 2019.

I was banned from Gretschtalk about a year ago...apparently permanently, but no explanation. I can only gather I rumpled someone's feelings when I suggested they try Dave Ramsey and self-discipline in response to their fiscal woes. Shame on me .

I have empathy (and have been there)...but am a bit thin on sympathy.

On the up...it ended my Gretsch GAS :thumb:.

Well, I now have a badge of honor......tgp banned me the other day.
I only told a joke......apparently you are not allowed to have a sense of humor there. I've been around too long to let their little world affect me, so it is no great loss, and I won't even lurk there.

I am a free American and will stand my ground to any snowflake or idiot.

I have been banned here and will be again if I run up against any
people with an IQ level that starts on the other side of a decimal point.

Not trying to start any fights, just sayin'

(slightly old post but their crap is still going on)

The moderation on TGP is so bad I just asked them to close my account and left.

Subject to interpretation moderation where one mod thinks a post is fine and passes on others like it but another dings it, removes it, then sends you on a weeks vacation is not only ridiculous but it's also highly discriminatory.

They don't like being told that though and would rather count on the fact that few people if any will pursue any kind of legal action over a post in a gear forum and their own violation of the TOS. They're right. It's not worth it or at least not yet

TalkBass is another whose long established cliques rule over moderation so who you are in that pecking order can govern how you are moderated. I'd share with you the very intentional post I made they banned me over but then I might be in hot water here and I would prefer to avoid that.

But karma has a way of finding the deserving. On Sunday the facility that hosts the TalkBass servers had a massive fire and the entire site has been shut down since without any firm indication of when they may be able to roll again. It will probably require new servers and backup files to do it.

Here's a few discussion-terminating cliches (you guys like those, right?)

-TGP is a great resource, and a wealth of information. Often, I'll utilize Google to search specific terms on TGP. This gives them the traffic counts, but I don't know if I'll ever join there.
-Websites are private spaces. If you can't adhere to the standards and expectations set forth by ownership and the moderation staff, GTFO. If you're really that butthurt over being moderated and/or banned, you're more than welcome to start your own guitar forum. Otherwise shut up and adhere to the rules. You're not being cancelled or censored, you're being held accountable to your own actions.

I was called out by a user recently on TGP for typing the words "I think rap music sucks". I went on to explain why and we went round and round.

He/she claiming what I was saying was ban worthy. Really?! I was in the Pub! And not calling out any particular artist, just the genre as a whole.

Either that's not enough for a spanking these days over there or possibly the mods agreed with me :D

TGP isn't that bad. Well, I wouldn't know these days since I don't bother posting or lurking there anymore (if the amount of people I have on "ignore" reaches a certain number, I check out), but compared to Seven String it's a bastion of virtue. Take whatever level of "toxic" and "arbitrary modding" what is being complained about and raise it by a factor of "yeah, it's a dumpster fire."

Then again, the demographic that tends to be into seven-strings what aren't Jazz players... not exactly the most chemically balanced of netizens. I should know, I was one of those in my teens and 20s.
