Had re re-setup my Player strat, I decked it and noticed I didn't get the two point trem all the way underneath those two screws and the bridge didn't sit 100% flat.

Long story short I experimented. Got the bridge completely flat and just by eyeballin and feel re adjusted the saddles then intonated and it plays superbly. I still blow but the strat doesn;t. :D

No ruler, no feeler gauge, nada, just an allen thingy for the saddles and my fingers. I'm so full of myself right now for this accomplishment.

Setting up your own guitar is the only way to go, imo. Nice job!

Been doing it myself for some time but I would obsess over measuring everything, this was the first eyes and fingers only. I figured what the hell, can't hurt anything and the upside is it worked!

I've never used any kind of gauges, don't even own any. Guitar setup is mostly simple geometry and feel anyway.

I do the same. Tried going by “the numbers” but no go. I use my ears and feel. Like most rules setup rules are a starting point

    Excellent!

I haven't measured in many years until this week when I was curious how my Les Paul setup compared to basic Gibson spec. To my surprise, it was bang on, even though it was a from scratch setup after I refretted it with tall frets and changed the nut. Go figure.

No gauges here either. Eye ball it close and then use a tuner and ears. When it feels right it’s right.

I also generally set the string height just slightly high; I’m all about the sustain.

I couldnt read a ruler like that if it was life and death. Shoot, I can barely get a string in my tuning posts

Always been my approach, not like a car where settings are crucial. Your guitar, needs to feel and sound good to you.
