I have had a similar experience when I bought by '16 Gibson ES335 in cherry red. Great guitar, great craftsmanship on mine too. Love 'em. No Les Paul's here either.

Yes. My "WTF" moment was when I played a Squier CV Tele 50's and it was the best Tele I've ever played (and stupidly didn't bought it...)

Yeah, I tried a Firebird awhile back and thought WTF. But in a bad way.

Yep. My Music Man Steve Morse Y2D. I should hate it - Floyd Rose, fancy maple top, slightly wacky finish. Bit the neck, the feel, the sound... it's just amazing. Picked it up to experience the Music Man neck everyone raves about and just couldn't put it down. I've never played such a comfortable guitar in all my life.

Picked up my Hoyer Flying Arrow and never looked back.
The next one was my white V and I was way above the rainbow.
(I forgot to mention the Les Paul Gold Top (Deluxe) I checked in Denmark back in the days.)

    All the best,
    Robin

I have had that experience, albeit not with a 335. But it wasn't permanent.

My next 60s Framus Caravelle six string will give me that feeling. If I can ever find one.

I have frequent WTF moments with new Gibsons. Lol That being said, I have an SG that started that way being plugged in an amp. After realizing the 498T and 490R werent for me in favor of Gibson Custombuckers, It's now a "WTF? this sounds good"

Early '80's Ibanez Rocket Roll II (set-neck flying vee with neck binding). I should have bought it on the spot. Easiest to play neck I ever had in my hands. Now they are rarer than Russian sportscars. I'll bet Paul Gilbert owns it...the ba$terd.

First off- CONGRATS on discovering the 335! Lt's see some pics and regale us with stories of breathing F holes and vibrating bodies! INSPIRATION!

    WTF moments with a guitar?

    Yes. Twice!

First was a CIJ Fender Tele Custom '72 RI. SONOFAGUN! I shoulda NEVER parted with that one! Feel, tone, all the 'right stuff'!

THEN...late 2013 early 2014, I'm getting my Breedlove acoustic worked on and the store owner (that devil!) hands me an LP. "Yeah," I say, "I love the sound of a Les Paul, when someone else is playing it!" He ignored me, plugged it into some kinda Orange Amp and I left the store with it that day. My "Intro To LP Land!"

    Still livin' there...*

*Disclaimer- everytime I pick my '13 Am. Std. Strat, I "re-discover" it: FSR run soft V to C neck, compound radius 'board, CS 69 pickups...ummm Hmmm!

Like my signature line says...'lil slice of heaven on earth!

I'm not gonna lie, when my '60 Relic came in and I opened the case I was a little.. unsure, it wasn't like opening the briefcase in Pulp Fiction with the God rays coming out of it like I was hoping, I felt deflated..

Then I pulled it out and gripped the neck and "oh.. this is nice" not feeling the fret ends over the shoulders on either side of the fretboard was nice enough but it just felt so damn good. Okay, plug it in. "Oh holy Christ these pickups, this neck, this tone!" Still I wasn't happy with the set-up so I spent about an hour and a half setting it up properly and yes, it was a WTF experience.

I already see another in my near future.. It's been a month and I can't put it down once I get home. Shell pink over 3CSB here I come.
