So I'm sure most of us know about Dimebag Darrell's estate ending their relationship with Dean Guitars and taking them to court. Dime's lifelong gf, Rita Haney, is doing her damnedest to keep his legacy alive and carry out his wishes.

Fallout from their split has finally hit the ground in the form of DIME GUITARZ, a new guitar company started by Dimebags estate. You can assume they're going to produce his signature guitars from now on. F- yeah! They had the Pantera tour bus at some event over the weekend and unveiled the new logo at the event and online.

They posted this vid to Instagram over the weekend and announced [he Official Release of the new logo. So I got a screenshot from the IG vid. It was posted either on Rita or Dime's IG page.

Its at Dime's page

I've come to the realization lately that Dimebag Darrell has had a HUGE influence on me as a guitar player. I didn't see it at first. It's only been since I met a friend of mine, Mike, who knew Dimebag, that it's dawned on me that Dime is part of why I play guitar today. He's had a much bigger impact on me than I ever expected, TBH. I realize that now, going back and listening to old Pantera albums. Man this sucks that Dime's gone. Rest in Peace, brother.

I don't know.

Starting a guitar company 19 years after his death so you can produce "signature" guitars that he obviously has nothing to do with?

It's just like all of the Hendrix "signature" gear produced now. Nothing to do with the artist other than capitalizing on his name.

Yeah... typical "carrying on his legacy" by making money off his name BS.

Couldn't agree more. Just shameless profiteering from his name. 🙁

Of course loved ones milk a performers image after death. It takes years and years of dedication and hard work to become famous, and being famous is an asset, just like a trust fund. So when you die after many years of, say, drawing “Peanuts,” the comic is still beloved, so your heirs have inherited that asset. Should they license the characters and continue making piles of money, or should they spend their time making sure nobody else uses the characters? I think Schulz would want his kids to market his fame.
